‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ Preview: Why Did Triple H Attack Roman Reigns And Seth Rollins?

Triple H shocked the WWE Universe when he returned to Monday Night Raw last week during the main event. With Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns still remaining in the Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match, it was no surprise that The Game attacked Roman Reigns, the man who took the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Hunter at WrestleMania 32. It was surprising to many, however, when Triple H delivered the Pedigree to Seth Rollins — his former protege — allowing Kevin Owens to become the new WWE Universal Champion.

So far, the WWE Universe hasn’t received an explanation from Helmsley. With both Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and General Manager Mick Foley favoring Rollins before the match on Monday, it would seem that Hunter and Steph aren’t on the same page. What will Triple H have to say about his actions on Monday, and how long has he been in cahoots with Kevin Owens?

While Rollins will undoubtedly want another shot at the Universal Championship, what direction will Roman Reigns turn at this point? Will he demand another shot at the title or seek revenge against Triple H?

Below is a deeper look at WWE’s official Monday Night Raw preview for September 5. Each week, the WWE Universe is provided borderline spoilers in regard to the assumed events that will take place on the WWE’s flagship program, which airs live on the USA Network.

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview

For the first Monday Night Raw of the “Kevin Owens Era,” the red brand airs their show live from the Sprint Center Arena in Kansas City. As Wrestling Inc. reported, Raw beat SmackDown Live in the ratings again last week, averaging 3.413 million viewers, while SmackDown Live averaged 2.835 million. On September 5, Monday Night Raw looks to extend their ratings war winning streak to seven weeks.

About last week…

The WWE Universe should prepare itself for a lengthy promo to kick off this week’s Monday Night Raw. Whether Stephanie and Mick begin in the ring or Triple H and Owens, there’s no doubt that all four of them will eventually be joined by at least Seth Rollins (if not also Roman Reigns and Big Cass) to seek out an explanation for last week’s events.

What’s next for Roman Reigns?

As the WWE continues to look for a good fit for Roman Reigns since returning from his 30-day suspension for violating the WWE’s Wellness Policy, there are several directions he could go after last week’s crazy Raw. Reigns still has unfinished business with WWE United States Champion Rusev, and the U.S. title does have to be defended at WWE Clash of Champions 2016 on September 25. Then again, Roman could try to get his hands on Triple H in a rematch from WrestleMania 32. Or perhaps The Big Dog will keep his focus on the Universal Championship and try to earn another shot at Clash of Champions.

Injured Cesaro looks ahead to Match 3

As Cesaro returns from his kayfabe injury, it would be surprising to see him fall behind Sheamus 0-3 in their best-of-seven series. Then again, perhaps Cesaro is going to be booked for a performance like the Cleveland Cavaliers, who came back from 0-3 in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors in June.

Is Bayley in line for a WWE Women’s Championship opportunity?

With Sasha Banks out for 30 days with an injury and Paige serving a 30-day suspension, could Bayley pull a page out of Finn Balor’s book by winning a WWE title less than a month after being called up to Monday Night Raw? If Bayley’s opportunity is booked for Clash of Champions, what will WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte have to say about it?
