‘Power’ Season 3, Episode 8 Recap: ‘Trust Me’ Reveals Who Ghost Can Really ‘Trust’

Season 3 of the hit STARZ original Power has been a rollercoaster ride since the season premiere earlier this summer. Episode 8 of Season 3, paradoxically titled “Trust Me,” was no different.

It began with Ghost still stuck in the clutches of Milan’s drug cartel. For those who missed the previous episodes of Power, the former drug dealer turned nightclub owner’s futile attempt to clean up dirty money was thwarted when he learned the head of his new security team was actually the leader of a drug cartel he stiffed while trying to get out of the game.

Now, that Ghost has been forced to get back in the game and replace the product he stole from Milan, his family is in danger because the security disguise allowed Milan to learn the ins and outs of his personal life and business operations.

Episode 8 begins with Ghost working to learn more about Milan and his operations in hopes of finding a weak spot he can use to his advantage. Initially, it appears Ghost is coming up short because Milan’s operations are air tight. As Ghost works alone, Tommy begins to develop a different type of relationship with Milan.

The Serbian drug lord makes several attempts to push Tommy into the forefront so he’ll begin to make moves without Ghost. With the two relatively divided, there’s no way they could effectively work together to pose a threat to Milan. Based on Tommy’s reaction, Milan’s plot appears to be working.

Throughout the episode, Ghost spends more and more time alone learning about Milan’s connections. He also checks in with Angela as she attempts to tie up loose ends with the law so none of them face charges in connection with the murder of Lobos.

Tasha also faces conflicts with Keisha after she learns her salon has been turned into a distribution center for drugs. But, while Ghost and Tasha are busy focusing on their obligations to Milan, they leave Dre to babysit Tariq, which only creates more problems.

As expected, Dre’s being tailed by Kanan, who pops up at the gym where Tariq is playing basketball. Kanan befriends Tariq to begin weaving his web of revenge. The episode ends with Angela doing damage control with her ex-boyfriend Agent Knox. She showed him the surveillance footage from the hotel where Ghost and Tasha stayed during the time Lobos was killed in an effort to solidify Ghost’s alibi and divert attention from her involvement in the Lobos’ murder.

“Trust Me” ends with Ghost making a daunting discovery about Tommy and his affiliation with Milan. Despite the episode’s ironic title, by the end of it, Ghost realizes that he actually can trust no one.

The latest episode follows a recent interview where Power star Omari Hardwick offered fans a glimpse into his personal life. When he’s not fighting to keep his personal life and street life from colliding in front of the cameras, he enjoys what he calls “Omari Time.” The talented actor revealed he spends time in Vancouver, British Columbia. Omari fell in love with Vancouver while working on the TV show Saved, according to the NY Times.

“I lived there for about a year and fell in love with it,” he said. “It’s so beautiful, and it still offers me solace. You’ll be on one street that feels like Chicago and the next one reminds you of Atlanta, where I grew up. If you’re by English Bay you think it’s Santa Monica.” He recommends North Vancouver’s Grouse Grind. “It’s an incredible hike. If you make it through that, you’ll feel pretty damn good about yourself.”

Like his famed Power character Ghost, Omari appreciates opulence and luxury living. “I’m addicted to the hotel life,” he said. “It’s humbling and fly at the same time. I’m still a kid pressing my face to the glass as if I’m not allowed into the big party. I’ve had every level of being spoiled imaginable, but I still feel that way. I love hotels.”

Each week, Power continues to heat up. With only two episodes left and so many unanswered questions, fans have so many different perspectives of the outcome. Will Ghost be able to outsmart Milan? Will he and Tommy be united or divided once the dust settles?

Can Angela maintain control in and out of the office without tanking herself and everyone else? What’s to come of Tariq now that he’s involved with Kanan? How will Ghost react once he finds out Kanan is still alive? Will Dre end up dead for playing both sides? There’s a strong possibility someone will die, but who’s it going to be? Only time will tell. Power fanatics will just have to see the entire season to find out.

Power airs on Sundays at 9/8C only on STARZ.
