Nick Viall In ‘Solid’ Relationship With Jen Saviano After ‘Paradise,’ Dumped Her When He Was Named ‘The Bachelor’ Says Close Friend [Report]

When Nick Viall was introduced as the next Bachelor on After Paradise last week, many fans were upset that the announcement spoiled the outcome of Nick’s relationship with Jen on Bachelor in Paradise.

Now one of Jen’s close friends is speaking out about what really happened between Jen and Nick after they left Paradise and how he dumped her right before he accepted the gig to become ABC’s next leading man.

Nick had a reputation for being a villain when he appeared on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons of the Bachelorette. Although he told WetPaint several months ago that he would never join the Bachelor in Paradise cast, he changed his mind and has become a fan favorite this season. Perhaps his decision was made knowing a favorable image would up his chances for becoming the next Bachelor?

Well, it worked. But in the process, he broke contestant Jen Saviano’s heart. Although Reality Steve‘s spoilers indicate that the couple broke up on the Paradise season finale that was taped at the end of June, one of Jen’s close friends has revealed that Jen and Nick were in a “solid” relationship after taping ended and it continued until one week prior to Nick’s introduction as the next Bachelor on ABC’s After Paradise talk show.

Lauren Himle, who was on Ben Higgins’ season of the Bachelor with Jen, joined the Bachelor in Paradise cast last week, perhaps a little too late in the season to find love. But even without a love connection, she was able to hang out with her good friend Jen and her TV boyfriend, Nick Viall.

Although spoilers indicate that Nick spends the night with Jen in the Fantasy Suite and then breaks up with her before the final rose ceremony, Lauren revealed on The Ticket radio show that Nick and Jen were in a “solid” relationship after the show, despite the fact that they live on opposite coasts — Jen lives in Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and Nick lives in L.A.

Lauren goes on to say that she is “not a fan of Nick,” mostly because of the way he “manipulated” Jen and then proceeded to break up with her shortly before he was announced as the Season 21 Bachelor.

“[Nick] dated my great friend Jen on Bachelor in Paradise. They were still seeing each other after the show completed… This [breakup] just happened. They were solid a week ago. … It’s fresh.”

Lauren also reveals that Jen picked up on some “bulls–t” from Nick recently and realized that he was “kind of manipulating her” right before he broke things off and went on to accept the Bachelor gig.

“So Jen is one of the smartest people I know, and she picks up on the bulls–t — her and I are both pretty good at picking up on guys’ game. She knew that he was kind of manipulating her towards the end.

Now the big question is, how is Nick going to address the breakup when he and Jen appear on the After Paradise live show that will air after Tuesday’s finale?

One day after ABC revealed Nick is the next Bachelor, the 35-year-old model and former software salesman told Glamour that he’s not sure how he will handle the topic after the finale airs.

“I definitely see a lot of potential with Jen, and honestly, I’m not quite sure how I’m going to approach the finale,” Nick tells Glamour. “I respect Jen so much that I want to make sure we’re on the same page and respectful of each other’s emotions.”

Watching Nick explain his actions on After Paradise will be interesting, especially because it’s a live show. Will Jen give him a pass for breaking her heart, show up as one of the contestants on his season, or will she call him out for leading her on?

Watch the two-night Bachelor in Paradise season finale on Monday, September 5 and Tuesday, September 6 at 8 p.m. followed by the live After Paradise talk show at 9 p.m. on Tuesday night.
