‘The Young And The Restless’ Cast News: Justin Hartley’s Adam Newman Presumed Dead, Is He Leaving The Show For Good? [Spoilers]

The Young and the Restless spoilers for the week of September 5 indicate that many in Genoa City will be feeling heartbroken and devastated after the cabin explosion. Chelsea and Nick arrived at the cabin where they believed Adam to be just as it exploded, and viewers know that Chloe had been there with him just before it all went down. This has many viewers worried that Justin Hartley is leaving the role of Adam Newman for good and everybody is anxious for some Y&R scoop on this front.

Justin Hartley took over the role of Adam Newman in 2014 a short while after Michael Muhney’s controversial departure. The Young and the Restless fans had loved Muhney in the role, and the storyline to solidify Hartley in the role took quite some time. Viewers may have been resistant to accepting someone new as Adam, but most would say that Justin won everybody over with his portrayal of the character.

Now, however, Hartley has landed another primetime gig and this has generated a lot of buzz among Young and Restless fans. Will he be leaving the role of Newman or can he pull off both gigs? Justin will be one of the central characters in the upcoming NBC show This Is Us and the series is generating a lot of positive buzz.

This isn’t Justin’s first primetime gig, as many remember his previous stints with shows like Smallville, Emily Owens, M.D., Revenge, and Mistresses. While the Young and Restless star has been quite vocal about loving his role as Newman, it certainly doesn’t come as a big surprise to see that he has remained drawn to primetime opportunities as well.

Not long ago, Hartley was asked about remaining on Young and Restless as Newman, and he did indicate that he would be taking a break for a bit this fall to focus on This Is Us. As for doing both shows long-term, he essentially said that it wouldn’t be his call to make. Given the current storyline playing out on Y&R, it is clear that Justin’s “break” is beginning now. However, will Justin and Adam end up gone for good? Everybody was seemingly left hanging on this for a bit, but clarity has now emerged for fans.

According to SheKnows Soaps, Young and Restless spoilers for Monday’s episode indicate that Adam’s DNA will be found in the burned cabin. Previews for the week show Chelsea, Victor, Nick, and Adam’s other loved ones gathering to say goodbye at a memorial service. Chloe will be lending her support to her friend in her time of need, noting how strong Chelsea is. However, Chelsea will say that she is simply putting one foot in front of the other.

The Young and the Restless spoilers via Soap Central tease that Chelsea will be seeking revenge as this plays out, determined to find out who was responsible for the cabin explosion that seemingly killed her husband. Obviously, things will get difficult at whatever point she learns that Chloe apparently was responsible. In addition, Victor and Chloe will have a discussion where he makes it clear that he knows she is connected to Adam’s apparent death.

It certainly appears that those in Genoa City will believe that Adam is dead, but is that really the case? Given what has happened with the character of Adam in the past, there is no doubt that the door is open to an extent for a recast and return. However, Hartley has now taken to his Facebook to confirm that he will not be returning to Young and Restless in the role.

“After many weeks of having to keep quiet in order not to spoil storylines for all of you, the time has finally come that I’m able to write you this letter. Although I am saying goodbye to Y&R, this is not a goodbye letter. I felt it was more important to write a thank you note. Each and every one of you helped make my time on the show enjoyable. I always loved hearing about how excited all of you were for certain characters, how disgusted you were with others, at times even mine, or how we were able to help you escape from a hectic day. You are some of the most loyal and dedicated fans I’ve ever encountered. You are truly the heart of the show. It simply does not work without you. I wanted to thank you for that. Thank you for tuning in; thank you for letting me entertain you; thanks for entertaining me, and thank you for caring.”

“Although I’m leaving the show, you haven’t gotten rid of me. Hahaha…not so fast. I’m beyond thrilled and proud of my new series, This Is Us. We have a sensational cast and crew, wonderful writing and I would be honored to have you all tune in and watch.”

While many Y&R fans will be heartbroken to hear that Justin is officially done with the show, that doesn’t necessarily mean that this Newman character is gone forever. On the one hand, the last thing that viewers want at this point is yet another storyline where Adam is presumed dead, everybody grieves, and he shows up alive again down the road. However, the door does seem to be left open a crack for that to become the case.

Y&R spoilers have been hinting at a Chelsea and Nick pairing in Adam’s absence, but viewers are not necessarily excited about that possibility. In addition, as SheKnows Soaps recently detailed, the show is working on casting a new character named “Dean” that sounds very much like an Adam recast. Should The Young and the Restless try to recast the character yet again now that it is official that Justin Hartley is leaving for good or should they leave Newman dead and off the canvas for good this time?
