‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Sept. 2, The Last Word And Rarely Seen Armor

With just three weeks to go until the release of Destiny: Rise of Iron, PlayStation and Xbox owners received a bit of a surprise Friday with Xûr selling some Exotic pieces for the first time in Year Two, like The Last Word and Eternal Warrior. Meanwhile, the Exotic armor Knucklehead Radar and Obsidian Mind have not been seen since just after the release of The Taken King.

Destiny players looking for Xûr should turn right and head toward the hangar after spawning at the Tower. Once you’ve gone through the long hallway and entered the hangar, turn right, and you will see the seller of Exotics. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map, just to be sure.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, September 4. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

The Last Word

The Last Word has a slight learning curve, but it is easily one of the top tier PVP weapons. The Hand Cannon is able to fire quickly and continuously thanks to the “Fan Fire” perk. Combine that with all of the bonus accuracy perks from “Hip Fire,” “Perfect Balance,” and “Last Word,” and you have a dangerous weapon that can be fired while aiming down the sights or from the hip.

This weapon has been nerfed and tweaked by Bungie repeatedly. However, it’s still a viable choice in PVP today and is a necessary piece to own to complete the Jolly Holiday quest to earn The Chaperone Exotic Shotgun.

Eternal Warrior

The Eternal Warrior helmet will not only give your Titan a statuesque look, but it frees up one of the Striker perk columns. The main draw on this Exotic piece is the “Resolute” perk, which provides “Unstoppable” for Fist of Havoc. This allows Striker Titans to go with “Shoulder Charge” or “Juggernaut” instead. While this is primarily a PVP perk, its other two perks are geared towards PVE. “Ashes to Assets” gives more Super energy from killing minions with grenades and “Heavy Lifting” does the same, but with Heavy Weapon kills. Meanwhile the final column perk of “Better Already” starts shield recovery immediately when picking up Orbs of Light.

The 51 Intellect/50 Discipline stat roll for the helmet is fairly average for this helmet. Consider re-rolling for better stats and to get “Inverse Shadow” as one of the third column perks.

Knucklehead Radar

The “Sensor Pack” perk for Knucklehead Radar is still the main draw since it keeps the radar up while aiming down the sights of a primary weapon. This is most useful in PVP to keep up awareness of enemies, while use in PVE is limited to the most hectic encounters. The other set perk is “Infusion” to replenish heath when picking up Orbs of Light.

The optional perk gives a choice between “Inverse Shadow” to gain increased Super energy from killing minions in PVE and “Ashes to Assets” to gain bonus Super energy from grenade kills on minions. The third column perk is “Invigoration” for bonus melee energy from picking up Orbs of Light.

The 51 Discipline and 51 Strength stat rolls are decent for this piece. Re-roll with Glass Needles if your Hunter needs more intellect.

Obsidian Mind

The Obsidian Mind helmet is a still must-have for Voidwalker Warlocks, especially in PVE. The “Insatiable” (Nova Bomb kills reduce Nova Bomb killdown) intrinsic perk will make your Warlock a Nova Bomb-chucking machine when combined with the optional perks of extra super energy from either grenade kills or Special Weapon kills. Pair this helmet with the Soul Rip class talent and Bad Juju’s “String of Curses” perk for even more supers.

While the 51 Intellect and 46 Strength split stat roll is average for Obsidian Mind, the needed “Inverse Shadow” perk is present in the third column. Re-roll only as needed to maximize your Intellect.
