Sarah Michelle Gellar Has Words for Freddie Prinze Jr. On Anniversary

Sarah Michelle Gellar just celebrated 14 years of marriage with Freddie Prinze, Jr. and, in an effort to both mark the anniversary and publicly share her love for Prinze, Gellar posted a message to him via Instagram. The message accompanied a picture of Gellar and Prinze celebrating a previous anniversary, since Thursday is also commonly known as Throwback Thursday to internet users. The couple were married in 2002, five years after meeting on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Freddie Prinze, Jr. Still Gives Sarah Michelle Gellar That Glowing Smile

Proving that, even after 14 years together, the spark still hasn’t gone out on their romance, Sarah posted an Instagram picture of herself with Freddie in which the two share a happy, romantic moment from a past celebration. People magazine reveals that Gellar and Prinze share 6-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace and son Rocky James, who is currently three years old.

“Happy anniversary @realfreddieprinze,” Ms. Gellar captioned the Instagram image. “You stole my heart, so I got my revenge and took your last name!!”

Previously, when asked about her marriage to Prinze, Sarah revealed that she tries to appreciate every moment she has with her family, saying that she feels it’s important to take the time to tell your loved ones how you really feel. Ms. Gellar said it only takes a few minutes to set the phone down and really engage with those important to you.

“Take the 10 minutes – put the phone down. Have a cup of coffee together. Walk the dog at the end of the night. Read a story with your kids,” said Ms. Gellar. “Make the most of the time that you have. We are all pulled in so many directions, so make sure that, whichever one you are focusing on, you’re present.”

Buffy The Vampire Slayer To Return…With A New Slayer?

Speaking previously about a possible reboot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mirror reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar would definitely be up for such a project, but added that she would only consider it for the right story. Gellar hinted that a Buffy reboot would have to be something new and updated, not just a rehashing of the same stories from the original series. Sarah feels that the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer run revolved around stories that were metaphors for high school life, something with which she’s no longer familiar at 39.

“The monsters were literally the manifestation of the horrors of that time,” said Sarah. “That’s a very specific story, I don’t know what the story is now.”

When the series ended in 2003, it did so by having Buffy share her power as the slayer with generations of younger girls, drawing on that amplified power to defeat the First. Looking back at that ending, Gellar suggests that the way to go might not be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, but a sequel, following one of those slayers born of Willow’s magic.

“The whole idea of Buffy giving her power at the end – what you can follow and what could reboot is any of those young slayers coming today,” Sarah says.

While talk of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot or sequel is still hypothetical, Ms. Gellar did confirm that plans for a Cruel Intentions sequel is very real and progressing as an NBC movie. Gellar will reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil, picking up the story 15 years later, when Kathryn is trying to seize control of Valmont International, a company now owned by the son of Sebastian, her deceased step-brother.

Sarah Michelle Gellar admitted that creating this sequel to Cruel Intentions is going slow, but she adds that the slower process is due to a love for the project.

“The road is taking a little longer than normal. We have to do it right. It’s a naughty show and we have to pay homage to what it is.”
