Post Malone And Justin Bieber Drop Smooth Yet Fire ‘Déjà Vu’ Collab — Listen

Justin Bieber and Post Malone’s friendship isn’t just great for media hoaxes. “Déjà Vu,” the pair’s dreamily infectious new collaboration arrived online a day early on Thursday.

The single has now been officially released and is the first release from the “White Iverson” rapper’s highly anticipated Stoney album.

The song is the latest team-up featuring Bieber, who certainly isn’t resting on his laurels since releasing his acclaimed latest album Purpose last year.

“Deja Vu” arrives months after both Post Malone and Bieber hinted that they were working together on new music in January this year. Fast forward to May, Post played a snippet of the feature when he previewed his mixtape (titled August 26, to promote the then release date of Stoney) in the basement of New York City’s Up & Down club.

Roll on to August 27, Malone shared an apology on Instagram for Stoney being late. However, if his new gem with the Biebs is any indication of what’s to come, many may feel the wait is worth it.

So what’s “Déjà Vu” like? Try a combination of mid-tempo hip-hop beats, retro organ, a hypnotic high vocal motif, with Malone and Bieber (who sounds like velvet as the lead on the hook) floating atop the just under four-minute jam singing about girls they know.

Malone kicks off in barnstorming fashion, waxing about a girl who “ain’t like them b*****s /tell them h**s adios,” later singing, “Girl this a confession / I’m not like your exes / I came in from Texas And now that we textin’ / You can fly in whenever / Now you undressin'”

Sliding into the chorus, Justin sings, “Tell me is that deja vu? / Cause you want me and I want you / Tell me is that deja vu? / Cause baby it ain’t nothing new, no / Tell me is that deja vu? / Cause you want me and I want you / Tell me is that deja vu? /Cause baby it ain’t nothing new, no.”

Getting sassy on the second verse, Bieber croons “Oh you actin’ reckless / I told you that I need affection / So let me point you in the right direction / It’s so important that you got the message.”

After hanging out at the start of the year, Bieber invited Malone to be a support act on his Purpose World Tour for the now completed North American leg. On Wednesday, Post hinted at an imminent release by sharing a throwback shot of himself and Justin on tour, with “Deja Vu?” as a caption.

Meanwhile, Bieber launched the European leg of his Purpose Tour in Kópavogur, Iceland on Thursday evening. Around 19,000 enthusiastic Beliebers (reportedly six percent of the country’s population) packed the city’s arena as the pop icon romped through his greatest hits.

During the show, Bieber spoke endearingly to the crowd before singing his album title song “Purpose.”

“Concert tours can be difficult,” he told the audience. “But they are also the most fun and most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life.”

The 22-year-old superstar added, “So I want to thank you for all your love. I know for sure that I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for God in heaven. We are all given something – what counts is what we do with those gifts.”

If you’re already loving “Déjà Vu, there’s another widely-talked about song, Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” that is already No.1 on iTunes. Click here to stream Bieber and Malone’s new jam.
