Taylor Swift Responds To Selena Gomez’s Depression Reveal, Is ‘Proud’ Of Singer For Canceling Tour

Taylor Swift is sticking by her friend, Selena Gomez, who recently announced a brief hiatus from her career due to the side effects of Lupus.

Following Gomez’s revelation, a source claims her longtime friend, fellow singer Taylor Swift, is in complete support of her decision and “proud” of Gomez for making her health a priority.

“[Taylor Swift] couldn’t be more supportive of Selena’s decision to postpone her tour. She is so proud of her for making her health her number one priority,” a source told Hollywood Life on August 31.

Taylor Swift’s friend announced that she would be taking time off from her tour earlier this week, just a short time after she was involved in a highly publicized feud with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, on Instagram.

In her statement to fans, Gomez explained that her Lupus had led to anxiety, depression and panic attacks and said she was in need of a break. Unfortunately for her fans, that meant that she would not be going on with her Revival World Tour as previously planned.

“The two have been in constant communication with each other” during Gomez’s struggles, a second source revealed to Hollywood Life. “[Taylor Swift] has made it clear to Selena that she has her back and can come spend time with her whenever she wants.”

Taylor Swift has been close to the “Same Old Love” singer for the past several years and while their busy schedules often keep them apart, they always make time to catch up and earlier this year, they walked the red carpet at the Grammy Awards together.

“[Taylor Swift] wants to try and see Selena as soon as she can to give her a big hug,” the insider added.

Just weeks ago, Taylor Swift endured a public struggle of her own when Kanye West called her out for lying about a conversation they had regarding his song “Famous.” While Taylor Swift had led people to believe that she was shocked by the lyrics of the West track, which included a comment about West having sex with her, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, eventually released a clip on Snapchat of him and Swift talking on the phone.

After West’s wife’s clip proved that he had, in fact, given Taylor Swift a heads up about the song, the singer was slammed online by fans who labeled her a liar. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s friend spoke out in her defense.

“There are more important things to talk about. … Why can’t people use their voice for something that f*****g matters?” Gomez tweeted after the scandal broke, reportedly aiming her tweet and West and Kardashian.

“Truth is, last thing we need right now is hate, in any form,” she added, according to an Us Weekly report. “This industry is so disappointing yet the most influential smh.”

Taylor Swift has remained silent in regard to her feud with West, which he recently mentioned during his appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, and following the release of Kardashian’s video, she’s kept a low profile.

While Taylor Swift has made a few public outings, some of which have been with her boyfriend, actor Tom Hiddleston, since the scandal broke, she has kept her social media postings to a minimum and was noticeably absent during the recent VMAs, despite appearing to be in New York City, where the event was held at Madison Square Garden, at the time.
