A new, aggressive approach with both bat and ball, banishing the traditionally conservative, defensive posture taken by England cricket sides, is generally credited with sparking the turnaround.
“It’s credit to the way the guys have played, the way it’s led from the coach, the captain and all the way through,” bowler Chris Woakes said after the 169-run thrashing of Pakistan Monday. “We are encouraged to play our natural games and the batsmen have led that. We do have to pinch ourselves a little bit because the improvements have been dramatic from where we were.”
