Justin Bieber recently went vegan with his diet at the insistence of his mentor, Usher. The vegan hip-hop singer convinced Biebs to change things up, but the absence of meat in his diet is reportedly making him kind of a jerk.

According to BuzzFeed, Bieber’s meat, dairy, and fish-free diet is driving him completely crazy, and he’s starting to take it out on his loved ones.

“His mood took a major nose dive – he was such a brat. Soon everyone was begging him to just eat a steak!” said a source. “Justin ordered a tofu steak and tempeh tacos from Real Food Daily in LA, and he was really grossed out. He made a big show of spitting out the food and making gagging noises.” The insider added that even his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, “could bear her boyfriend’s constant complaining.”

Gomez was originally on-board with the diet overhaul, too. A source reportedly told Star Magazine that she has since changed her mind:

“She has encouraged the health kick but told him to drop it. She said that being vegan turned Justin into a jerk,” said the tattler.

So Bieber’s vegan-kick only lasted about a week or two, despite Usher’s insistence that going vegan is the healthiest way to live. His theory that a vegan overhaul would help Bieber stay healthy and energized throughout the young sensation’s rigorous tour schedule might be technically correct, but we don’t need a cranky Bieber pulling a Billie Joe Armstrong on stage. Just give the boy his bacon.
