Pennsylvania Man Joshua Rose: Police Say Trio Of Murderers Dressed Up His Dead Body And Drove It Around [Video]

According to Pennsylvania police, what happened to local man Joshua Rose was unlike anything they’d ever seen before. In fact, what happened to Joshua Rose after he was allegedly killed by three “friends” is like something out of a movie, Weekend at Bernie’s, perhaps. Law enforcement officials believe that the tragic story of Joshua Rose began when he began to have some kind of medical emergency; investigators believe it may have been a drug overdose.

As MSN News reports, Pennsylvania man Joshua Rose’s companions responded to his medical crisis by killing the 21-year-old. Allegedly, Preston Layfield, Tyler Mirabelli, and Amanda Wayda strangled the medically compromised man to death with a set of jumper cables. According to police Corporal Mark Prushinski, it’s not really known at this time what prompted the strangulation of Joshua Rose.

“The individual was probably having some sort of significant medical problem and for whatever their thought process was, it appears as though he was strangled.”

After the Pennsylvania man was dead, the “friends” of Joshua Rose allegedly found themselves at a loss as to what to do with his body. That, allege police, is when the likely murder got really strange.

According to police, after Preston Layfield, Tyler Mirabelli, and Amanda Wayda strangled Pennsylvania man Joshua Rose with jumper cables, they had to move his body to dump it and try to distance themselves from their alleged crimes and his untimely death. One of the suspects in the case reportedly told police that they managed to do this by dressing their dead companion up in sunglasses and a hat before driving from the scene of Joshua Rose’s strangulation to the location they chose to dump his remains.

Authorities say that the trio even stopped for gas between the crime scene and the location that they abandoned the body of Pennsylvania man Joshua Rose. The whole time, Joshua Rose was allegedly disguised with sunglasses and a hat to give the illusion that he was alive.

PA Home Page reports that two of the suspects in the death of Joshua Rose were arrested and arraigned on Monday. The arraignment of Preston Layfield, 19, and Tyler Mirabelli, 22, reportedly took place at the Lackawanna County courthouse in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Both suspects were charged with assault and conspiracy; however, Pennsylvania State Police believe that more charges are likely, pending the outcome of the autopsy being conducted on Pennsylvania man Joshua Rose.

Officers are still looking for the third suspect, Amanda Wayda, 20. She, like the other two allegedly involved in the strangulation and bizarre post-death disguising of Joshua Rose, is from Shickshinny, Pennsylvania.

Authorities believe that Preston Layfield was responsible for the actual strangulation of Joshua Rose and that the other two suspects played “supporting roles” in the crime.

According to troopers and investigators into the death of Joshua Rose, the suspected murder case that ultimately spanned two Pennsylvania counties last week began as an investigation into a missing person. That missing person was Pennsylvania man Joshua Rose.

“The family called that he had been missing they hadn’t seen him or talked to him since the 24th (of August).”

Over the course of their investigation into the disappearance of the young man, authorities came to the determination that Joshua Rose most likely suffered a drug overdose at a private residence in the city of Scranton in Lackawanna County. During the medical emergency (probable drug overdose) it’s possible that the suspects in his death simply panicked.

For whatever reason, though, they didn’t get medical help for Joshua Rose. Instead, they loaded him up in the car and took him for a drive along I-81. Police believe that it was during this drive that Rose was strangled with the jumper cables and apparently disguised with sunglasses and a hat. According to law enforcement, Preston Layfield, Tyler Mirabelli, and Amanda Wayda drove Joshua Rose across the county line into Susquehanna County, where they dumped the Pennsylvania man’s body in a wooded area near some railroad tracks.

Police also say that there was a hospital along the route that may have been able to save Joshua Rose’s life if his alleged killers had taken him there for help instead of strangling him and dumping his body.

“They drove right past the hospital and they continued north on Interstate 81 and why exactly they did that at this point, we’re not really sure.”

At this point, the investigation into Joshua Rose’s death is still ongoing; police are trying to locate the third suspect wanted in connection with the alleged strangulation of the Pennsylvania man.

***Update: The Times-Tribune reports that the third suspect in the case, Amanda Wayda, has been taken into custody and charged with assault and conspiracy. Further charges for all three suspects in the case of the Pennsylvania man’s death are pending Joshua Rose’s toxicology results.***
