New Series ‘Haunted Case Files’ Features Eerie Tales Of The Paranormal [Recap And Spoilers]

Destination America is offering paranormal enthusiasts another new series that examines some of the most extreme, harrowing, and, at times, downright dangerous paranormal experiences ghost hunters have ever faced during an investigation. Broadway World shared that each episode of Haunted Case Files will feature three different paranormal investigation groups as they recount a particular case through the use of interviews, recreated events, and evidence collected during their investigations.

Get Spooked noted that Haunted Case Files provides viewers with the perfect mix of veteran investigators, the latest in paranormal investigation techniques and devices, and plenty of haunted locations and history. Since each episode follows new investigators and their own individual stories, Haunted Case Files will continue to provide a unique look at some of the most frightening and spine-tingling investigations ever conducted.

For those who missed the premiere episode of Haunted Case Files titled “The Forbidding Funeral Home,” father and daughter team Alan and Anna Tolf were the first to relive their terrifying experience. They have been investigating the paranormal for five years, and Alan is a former police officer. His training would definitely give them an added advantage during their investigations. Anna has degrees in psychology and biomedical science.

The Prospect Place investigation on Haunted Case Files involved a crumbling mansion located just outside of Trinway, Ohio. The mansion was built in 1856 by railroad tycoon George Adams, and after he died, the mansion was left abandoned for several decades. When a descendant began renovations in 2001, something seemed to awaken within the estate. Construction workers were terrified by apparitions, strange noises, and overwhelming feelings of dread. Other accounts include hearing whispers and being poked, touched, or scratched. The workers fled, and work on the mansion stopped.

During their interview for Haunted Case Files, the Tolfs explained that they were contacted by Adams’ great-great grandson when he decided to resume restoration of the mansion. As soon as they entered the home, they realized that they were dealing with a very active location. They began to experience loud banging noises and objects moving. As the activity continued to ramp up, they investigated the ballroom, where it is reported that satanic rituals were held.

They decided to use a spirit box to see if anything was still hanging around in the ballroom, and they received a very threatening message. Not to be deterred, they continued to investigate the home as actual footage of the investigation revealed orbs, strange dark shadows, and mists. Both Alan and Anna began to experience personal attacks and decided to wrap up their investigation. They believe that they encountered spirits in the home, but they also believe something negative, possibly a demon, also lurks in the empty halls of the mansion.

The Lake Huron investigation on Haunted Case Files involved a home located in Bruce County, Ontario. The home has a colorful past, having served as a restaurant, a funeral home, and now a private residence. On Haunted Case Files, the homeowner, Susan Johnson, is experiencing shadow figures, rapping sounds, disembodied voices, and doors opening and closing on their own. In 2006, she called in Michelle Desrochers, who was born into a family of psychics and has been actively involved for several years in investigating the paranormal.

According to her website, Canada’s Most Haunted, Desrochers and her team specialize in the research of the paranormal through the use of both mediums and scientific methods. For the purposes of the investigation on Haunted Case Files, Desrochers is joined by fellow investigator Patrick Cross, who immediately felt a heavy presence in the home. Almost as soon as they entered the house, the sound system began playing 40s-era music, which is shocking because it was not plugged in. Later, they have several frightening encounters including one where a demonic-looking entity, complete with horns, shows itself on an unplugged television.

After their terrifying experiences, Michelle and Patrick cleansed the house, but the spirits were so strong that the activity soon returned, and the home remains very active. Desrochers revealed to Haunted Case Files that to her dismay, the dark spirit or entity that inhabits the home isn’t quite finished with her yet, as it reaches out to her through the phone.

The final Haunted Case Files story involves a home located in Clyde, Ohio, and in 2012, the current residents learned that the previous homeowner doesn’t want anyone else living there. The Fitzpatricks were renting as they search for a home of their own to buy. Shortly after moving in, they began to notice strange activity, including whispers and moving objects. Then, one night, Mavis Fitzpatrick came face-to-face with a frightening, hostile apparition, and the couple reached out to Karlo Zuzic for help.

Zuzic is a veteran paranormal researcher with hundreds of investigations under his belt. He grew up in a haunted house and is a member of the Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits (ORBS). Their website describes ORBS as Ohio’s premiere science-based research team, and with over 30 years experience, they seek to validate the afterlife by using the latest cutting-edge methods.

Zuzic brings along fellow investigators, including Amy Cobb and Chris Page. Karlo explains on Haunted Case Files that he interviewed Mavis and learned that the apparition she saw looked like a very angry, older woman. Once they began the investigation, they could feel an energy that gave Karlo the chills. As he walked toward a bedroom, he could see something in his thermal camera that resembled a hunched-over figure. Following the figure into the bedroom, he and his team are surprised to see that the room was empty.

Whatever is haunting the home makes it clear that the investigators are not welcome, and a battery is thrown against a wall with enough force that it leaves an indentation. The team surmised that the angry spirit wants them out of the bedroom. During this time, they also captured an EVP (electronic voice phenomena) that sounded like a woman’s voice telling them to get out.

The team discovers that an elderly woman had previously owned the home and lived there for 40 years. She was well known for her mean, very unsocial behavior. One day, she fell on her porch, and she wasn’t found until her son came to check on her two days later. She died a few days afterward, and Zuzic explains to Haunted Case Files that he believes a traumatic experience can leave a lot of energy behind. The team made contact with the spirit, and she corrected Karlo when he mispronounced her name. When they heard banging sounds, they realized it could be residual energy from when the woman was rapping with her cane on the porch in an attempt to get help.

Despite trying to clear the house, the spirit pushed back and refused to leave. Although the spirit’s power was reduced, Karlo wasn’t able to remove it completely. Zuzic reveals to Haunted Case Files that in the end, the Fitzpatrick’s decided to pack up and leave before the ORBS team could return to conduct another cleansing of the home.
