Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake Collab? Why It Could Happen

A Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake collaboration could very well be in the works. It appears that the legendary pop princess is willing to bury the hatchet and work with her famous ex-boyfriend.

Britney Spears recently revealed that she would love to work with Justin Timberlake. It looks like it’s still not over between these two. Much to the dismay of her fans, Spears, 34, revealed that she would love to collaborate with Timberlake, 35, on a new track. Spears just dropped her ninth album, Glory, but she already has some future collaborations in mind, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Ahead of her performance at Sunday Night’s MTV VMAs, Spears answered some of her fans’ questions during an AskAnything chat, in which she surprisingly revealed who she would love to work with.

“I would love to work with … Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He’s [lead singer Steven Tyler] a genius, I think, and he’s very rock ‘n’ roll and he sings from his soul. Gwen Stefani, I think she’s great. Justin Timberlake is very good.”

Yes, Britney doesn’t mind working with her former boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. It sounds like she’s past everything he’s put her through — from laughing about her rumored virginity on national television to dissing her on his smash hit, “Cry Me a River.”

It seems like Spears is willing to move on and let go of the past, unlike Timberlake. The “Can’t Fight the Feeling” singer spoke out about her again in his new interview with Vanity Fair Italia. He talked about the “suffering” he experienced when he wrote “Cry Me a River,” translated by Gossip and Gab. In the interview, Timberlake was asked if he was ever inspired by dark moments of pain or depression.

“It depends. In the past, suffering helped me to compose. ‘Cry Me a River’ was written in a moment of pain, and the whole world knew.”

Britney is not the only one who’s down for a collab with Justin Timberlake. His former NSYNC bandmate Lance Bass weighed in on his thoughts on the dream duet, reports People.

“It would absolutely break the internet,” Bass said in a recent interview to promote his new all-gay dating competition series, Finding Prince Charming. “I would love to see that happen and have a feeling it will happen.”

“I would love to see kind of like a Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson ‘Scream’ type of thing to happen,” Bass explained. “That video would be incredible.”

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake have collaborated before. They sang together on the track “What It’s Like To Be Me,” which was on the singer’s 2001 eponymous album, Britney. Then, the pop star made a surprise appearance with both NSYNC and Aerosmith at the Super Bowl Halftime Show that same year.

Imagine if Aerosmith, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake came out with a new song now? That could definitely break the internet, for sure. With these new developments, all signs point to yes. It’s any wonder if Timberlake is willing to collaborate with Spears on his upcoming album, which he confirmed he’s working on in a May 2016 interview with Rolling Stone. On Instagram, he’s hinted at collaborations with Little Big Town, Pharrell, and Timberland, but no word if he’s willing to work with Spears.

So, when is it coming out?

“Sometime early next year, more than likely,” RCA Records Executive Vice President/GM Joe Riccitelli confirmed in May, 2016, according to Digital Spy. “He just really working on it now. When he’s ready, he’s ready. Justin does what he does, when he wants to do it.”

Now, if only Justin could move on from their split so he could work with Britney. What are your thoughts on Justin and Britney collaborating? Do you love the idea? Sound off below in the comments section.
