Search.XXX: ICM Launches Porn Search Engine

The new .xxx domain went live earlier this year and now there’s a search engine to help you browse through all of its naughty sites. The Search.xxx porn search engine specifically combs through .xxx domains in order to make browsing adult entertainment more convenient.

ICM Registry, a company that oversees .xxx domains, released the search engine earlier this week.

Stuart Lawley, the CEO of ICM Registry, told The Huffington Post:

“It’s the same dirty porn that you’d get in [sites ending with] .com, but in a safe, more controlled environment.”

The site was launched Thursday morning and by Thursday afternoon, according to Lawley, had over 100,000 unique visitors and more than a half million searches.

ICM won’t be making money directly from its search engine. The company overseas the .XXX domain and they are hoping that the new search engine will drive more traffic to those sites. ICM will make their profit when more companies decide to purchase .xxx domains.

Lawley said:

“Our long-term game plan is to increase that market share … The more customers we get searching Search.xxx, the more providers we will have registering.”

The porn industry, however, isn’t entirely happy with the .xxx domain. The new search engine will make it easier for people to find their websites but it will also make it easier for people to block adult material.

According to NBC, Metacerf, a security company, has already released a free plug-in for Firefox and Chrome browsers that will block adult content on .xxx sites. The company plans to release plug-ins for Internet Explorer and Safari soon. The company is also developing a family friendly browser called Olly for mobile devices.
