Taylor Swift Responds To Kanye West’s 2016 VMAs Call Out

Taylor Swift was noticeably absent from the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28, but Kanye West certainly made sure she wasn’t forgotten.

Taking to the stage to introduce his new music video for the track “Fade,” West went on a five-minute rant in which he briefly spoke about Taylor, their feud, and his controversial music video for “Famous,” and now Swift is responding to his on-stage call out… Kind of.

Taylor is yet to officially comment on Kanye’s latest VMAs mention, but according to a new report by Hollywood Life Swift’s reaction to West’s latest words actually came in the form of… no reaction at all.

Taylor “had the show monitored for anything that Kanye or anyone else might have to say about her but she didn’t watch the show live,” according to the insider, who admitted that Swift actually wasn’t interested in hearing what Kanye had to say about her in the wake of their latest feud.

“There wasn’t anything [Taylor] wanted to see that she couldn’t see at a later time,” the source said of why Swift didn’t watch the ceremony live. “If she was interested in watching she would have been there in person.”

Swift has stayed radio silent on the MTV VMAs on social media, being quiet on Twitter since retweeting a message by African Parks on August 13, though West’s latest Taylor reference was noticeably pretty tame compared to his past call outs of the popstar during their infamous feud.

The Independent revealed that, despite talking for more than five minutes, West only mentioned Taylor briefly during his VMAs speech, once again calling back to that now infamous phone call he and Swift had over the track “Famous,” which reignited their feud.

“People come up to me like, ‘Man, that’s right, take Taylor down,'” West told the crowd, which was made up of a slew of famous faces including Britney Spears, Beyoncé and wife Kim Kardashian. “Bro, like I love all y’all. That’s why I called her,” he said of Swift.

E! News also reported that Kardashian thought Kanye West’s rant was pretty “tame,” claiming that the couple went to dinner with Jay Z, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beats, Diddy and Cassie after the show, who all agreed that Kanye kept things surprisingly friendly when it came to Taylor Swift.

“They were all talking about Kanye’s speech over dinner,” E! News‘ insider confirmed of the group’s dinner conversation. “They actually said that it was tame for Kanye.”

Swift is yet to officially comment on Kanye once again bringing up her name at the VMAs, though Hollywood Life revealed that an absent Taylor was happy about one thing that went down at the Madison Square Garden event:

“When she heard about the show and what happened, the one thing she was happy about and that stuck out to her was Fifth Harmony winning. She was very happy for Camila and the girls.”

But while Taylor is busy being happy for Camila and her Fifth Harmony bandmates, it looks like West isn’t ready to let his feud with Swift die.

Shortly after bringing up Taylor and his “Famous” music video at the VMAs, Kanye took to Twitter to post a photo of an unnamed person wearing a T-shirt that combined his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy with Swift’s 2014 release 1989.

Kanye didn’t offer up any kind of explanation for posting the image just one day after the VMAs, though he did caption it “Unity Love,” which had fans questioning if West was once again putting Swift on blast or if he’s now trying to bury the hatchet with the singer.

“You can’t stop bringing up Taylor huh??” Twitter user @killermuses responded, while @mileysbae tweeted back “YOU ENDED HER.”

What do you think of Taylor Swift lack of interest in Kanye West and his latest call out at the VMAs?
