What Does Andi Dorfman Think Of Nick Viall As The Next Star Of ‘The Bachelor’? Show Alums React

Andi Dorfman starred as The Bachelorette two years ago, but her season of the ABC reality show has been a recurring theme on this season’s Bachelor in Paradise. And now, Dorfman’s controversial ex, Nick Viall, has been chosen as the next star of The Bachelor, according to E! News.

Viall, who made it to the final two on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons of The Bachelorette, currently appears on the summertime spinoff show Bachelor in Paradise. On the After Paradise after-show, Viall revealed he’s excited and nervous to headline the next cycle of the reality franchise.

“I certainly have practice,” he said after the announcement. “I’m definitely ready for it, I’m very excited. I’ve had an interesting journey through this process. And I’m hoping this time around things will end up more positive.”

Indeed, Nick’s stints on The Bachelorette Season 10 and Season 11 didn’t exactly end well. He was dumped by both Andi and Kaitlyn, for Josh Murray and Shawn Booth, respectively.

After the announcement of the new Bachelor star was announced, both Dorfman and Bristowe took to Twitter to comment on their ex’s casting.

Andi Dorfman previously shared her thoughts about Nick as a Bachelor star when he was in the running for the gig last year after his split with Bristowe.

“I had my ups and downs with Nick, but the thing I will say about him is I know that he is genuine in what he wants and that is love,” Dorfman told Us Weekly last year.

“Whether or not he goes about it the way that everybody else would. I still definitely believe that his intentions are absolutely to fall in love. So I think that’s another great characteristic that you need for a Bachelor, but we’ll see.”

Andi Dorfman chose Josh Murray on her season of The Bachelorette, and after the fact, a hurt Viall called her out for sleeping with him in the Fantasy Suite when she knew she was picking Murray. Andi later called Viall “classless” for talking about their bedroom business on national TV.

In a blog post for Patheos.com, Nick tried to explain why he slut-shamed Andi.

“I had no intention of confronting Andi with my now infamous question about why she had sex with me,” Viall wrote.

“However, she started explaining away our relationship in the tidiest terms. In her explanation, she confessed that she had never loved me. That’s why I feel Andi’s decision to have sex with me was not appropriate. Either she was unsure about our relationship or – worse – she was certain she was choosing Josh. In both of those circumstances, I felt as if she didn’t respect my feelings and that she should not had sex with me. I’m speaking out about this incident because I hope Bachelor Nation will have a more honest conversation about the Fantasy Suites and the emotional repercussions of sex.”

Andi Dorfman fired back a response in an interview with the Huffington Post, revealing that she nearly walked off the stage when her ex blurted out their fantasy suite hookup.

“I just felt like, again, [it was] just kind of classless,” Andi said. “That’s supposed to be private and I don’t know what purpose you’re accomplishing by doing that. ”

Earlier this year, Andi Dorfman published a tell-all book, It’s Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak Into Happily Ever After, and it has become a de facto castmate on the current season of Bachelor in Paradise. While Andi’s angry ex-fiancé, Josh Murray, has described her book as fictional, Viall admitted that for the most part, what Andi wrote about him was true.

“It’s not my favorite book,” he said of Andi’s tell-all. “I’m familiar with the book, I’m in it a little bit.”

“I don’t know Andi to be the most honest person. What Andi does is she has a tendency of omitting information. That being said, the things that are written about me, as far as like the events that happened and things that were said, a large part of it did happen, so I can’t say that it’s a fictional book. It might be missing some information, but a lot of the things she wrote about did happen.”

Andi Dorfman has been mostly quiet about all of the chatter about her book on this season’s BIP, but she took to Twitter to set the record straight regarding what she wrote about her exes in her book.

“I speak two languages… English and Truth,” Andi wrote.

As for Viall’s casting as the next star of The Bachelor, alums from the ABC reality franchise had plenty to say about it on Twitter, including Andi Dorfman’s ex-fiance, Josh Murray.
