Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill was sentenced for one-year of probation and fined $500 Thursday after pleading no contest to assaulting his former girlfriend earlier this year.

Hill, 25, was charged with domestic violence in May after he allegedly choked his former girlfriend of 1 1/2 years, Darlene Luna, and threw her against the wall during a heated argument that happened on February 29.

ABC News writes that Luna, 29, cried on the witness stand as she recalled the incident and claimed Hill still hasn’t apologized.

As part of the plea arrangement, Jordan Hill’s assault charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. Hill could have faced up to 10 years in prison had he been convicted of a felony offense.

“Jordan decided to kind of put this all behind him so he could play basketball without any distractions,” Hill’s attorney, Rusty Hardin Jr., told the LA Times.

Hardin added that Hill’s conviction will be wiped from his record if he demonstrates good behavior over the course of his probation.

Following his plea bargain, Hill took to Twitter to express his excitement in getting back to basketball.

“Man I can’t wait for training camp to start…need to get dis show rolling boy!!!!” he wrote.

The Lakers will begin training camp on October 2nd.

Hill, a 2009 first-round pick of the New York Knicks, signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Lakers last summer after spending two years with the Houston Rockets.

Over the course of his 158 game (19 starts) career in the NBA, Hill is holding down averages of 5.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and .6 blocks per contest.
