WWE News: Final Roster For WWE 2K17 Released, Includes More WWE NXT Stars

Coming up on October 11, the latest iteration of the WWE video game series will come out on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One. WWE 2K17 is set to change the way wrestling video games are seen and heard in the ring. Last year’s edition took strides by adding WWE NXT into the game’s core programs. However, it came up short for a lot of WWE fans when considering the actual in-ring competition. A lot of glitches were found rather quickly.

The roster was also a setback for WWE 2K16. Instead of adding the Four Horsewomen (Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Bayley, and Sasha Banks), Primo and Epico were involved instead. That provided an outrage from WWE fans, especially those who loved the video games at the peak of the Women’s Revolution. Like any video game, there were inconsistencies that needed to be resolved. That’s what WWE 2K17 is aiming to do by fixing the problems left from last year’s game.

Starting with the hype of WWE 2k17, Goldberg will be featured in the game for the first time. He’s been in there as a playable character, but Goldberg is a pre-order bonus when getting the game. As the game’s development process continues, WWE 2K17 is over two months away from coming out. That means roster announcements and gameplay videos are starting to slowly reach the public. In a recent article by the Inquisitr, it was disclosed that legends and WWE NXT stars were added to a stacked lineup of wrestlers.

Obviously, the roster is very important in WWE video games. While the popular men and women are always used, it’s a good thing to include nearly everyone they can, so nobody is unhappy. With the debut of WWE 2K17 coming soon, the final roster was announced within the last 24 hours.

Here’s the latest list of names.

Asuka, Bayley, Big Boss Man, Buddy Murphy, Cactus Jack, Dean Ambrose, Diesel, Dude Love, Dusty Rhodes, Goldust, Jack Swagger, John Cena, Kane, Kevin Owens, Lex Luger, Luke Harper, Mankind, Road Dogg Jesse James, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Undertaker, Vader, Wesley Blake

Alberto Del Rio, Big Cass, Big Show, Bray Wyatt, Brock Lesnar, Carmella, Chad Gable, Darren Young, Dash Wilder, Diamond Dallas Page, Earthquake, Enzo Amore, Bill Goldberg, Jason Jordan, JBL, Mark Henry, Paige, Razor Ramon, Ric Flair, Rusev, Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, Sasha Banks, Scott Dawson, Sheamus, The Miz, Titus O’Neil, Typhoon, Zack Ryder.

As many can surmise, 2K Sports did a great job of assembling a great lineup, and that’s not even the full roster. Adding WWE NXT stars that were even shown recently on TV was a good idea from the developers. Shinsuke Nakamura will bring his large following to the video game. Asuka, Bayley, Samoa Joe, Dawson and Wilder, Gable and others were big add-ons as well. Sometimes, it’s even about the entrance music and entrance styles more than the actual entertainer.

For the Create-A-Wrestler mode, WWE fans will get to use wrestlers’ entrances and music. This writer really wanted to use Lynch’s music with Edge’s entrance style. Since WWE 2K developers didn’t add the Horsewomen into the game, it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been. That’s why including the biggest roster possible is always the end-goal.

What do fans want to see changed in WWE 2K17? That’s always a question that will receive a subjective answer. They improved the ladder match mechanics, as well as tiny intricacies throughout the game. Just by looking at the gameplay improvements, it looks more fluid in the squared circle. The in-ring announcing, commentary and crowd reactions need some work, but WWE 2K developers could only fix one thing at a time.
