Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton’s Romance Was ‘Played Up’ By NBC On ‘The Voice’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s romance was featured on The Voice Season 9, but according to a new interview, NBC may have gotten ahead of themselves when it comes to the true timeline of their relationship.

While Gwen Stefani and her boyfriend did fall in love during filming, Stefani claims the events that happened on the show were edited to look as if their romance began sooner than it actually did.

“We were laughing our heads off when we saw the blind auditions,” Gwen Stefani revealed during an interview with Cosmopolitan, via the New York Daily News on August 29. “I love NBC, but they for sure edited stuff together to look like we were flirting.”

“They chose to run with that story before anything was even real. I hardly knew him. But it was like it was in the air — happening before it happened,” she explained.

When production began on The Voice Season 9, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton had both just split from their former spouses, Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert. In July 2015, Shelton announced that after four years of marriage, he and Lambert were parting ways. Weeks later, Gwen Stefani and her husband ended their marriage after 13 years and three children together, 10-year-old Kingston, 8-year-old Zuma and 2-year-old Apollo.

Although there have been many claims suggesting that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton helped one another get over their relationships and divorces, Stefani has since confirmed that only a select few people know what really went down between her and Rossdale in 2015.

“Nobody except for my parents, the people involved, and whoever they told,” Gwen Stefani explained. “Nobody would believe it if I could really say what happened.”

In November, months after her divorce was announced and a short time after she went public with Shelton while filming The Voice, Gwen Stefani was featured in an Us Weekly article which claimed the singer had discovered Rossdale was cheating on her with their nanny in February 2015. However, the couple didn’t initially split.

According to the report, Gwen Stefani’s husband denied sleeping with Mann up until August, claiming that while they had sent messages to one another, they never went beyond flirting.

As Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship continues, rumors of an engagement have been swirling and according to new reports, the couple may be planning to get married later this year.

“[Gwen Stefani] and Blake are always discussing what their wedding will be like. Kingston, Zuma and Apollo will all play big roles of course,” an insider told Hollywood Life last week. “In addition to writing their own vows, Gwen and Blake have been working on a love song that they plan on singing on their special day.”

“They’re planning a December wedding at Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma,” a source told Life & Style, via Hollywood Life. “[Gwen Stefani] and the boys love it there and it will give them a lot of privacy.”

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been dating for nearly a year and while there have been ongoing rumors regarding their future, which have included reports of engagements, pregnancies and even secret weddings, the couple has yet to confirm news of any such things. Instead, they are focused on their careers.

Currently, Gwen Stefani is touring North America on her This is What the Truth Feels Like Tour while Blake Shelton is in the midst of production on the upcoming 11th season of The Voice.
