‘Fallout 4’ Nuka-World Areas, Factions, And Weapons Explained

Fallout 4‘s final DLC, “Nuka-World,” is set to launch Tuesday for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. What should vault dwellers expect in the happiest place in the wasteland? A bloody battle to become the Overboss of three Raider factions in a divided-up theme park filled with some outlandish new weapons.

Bethesda shared an overview of the “Nuka-World” DLC via a new video posted to YouTube on Monday. The Fallout 4 DLC lets players actually be on the bad side of the Raider equation as they attempt to pacify the soda-themed park.

Nuka-World Park Sections

The amusement park setting of “Nuka-World” is divided into six different areas, which are all twisted spins on Disney World and Disney Land. Nuka-Town, U.S.A., is the main hub for the Raiders and where players will first encounter the three gangs.

Players can venture from there to Nuka Galaxy, which represents the future in the 50s retro setting. Dry Rock Gulch is the wild west-themed area of the park, while Safari Adventure is the zoo-like area filled with mutated animals. World of Refreshment is a tour of the Nuka-Cola bottling plant. Finally, Kiddie Land is the kid-friendly part of the park complete with the spinning tea cups.

All three Raider gangs are living in the Nuka-Town, U.S.A., section of the park when players first arrive. The immediate goal is to pacify the different sections of the Nuka-World park and give to each of the different gangs. Each area has its plusses and minuses and will affect your relationship with the tree gangs.

The Disciples are the classic violent gang that will cut you sooner than look at you. Their gear tends to favor masks and jagged edges in the classic Raider style. The Operators are a bit smoother and more technologically advanced. They’d rather take their targets down from the shadows and have more stylish gear. Finally, The Pack is the berserker group of the three factions with the wild and colorful armor to match.

Go Raiding

One of the perks of being the Overboss of Nuka-World in Fallout 4 is players can now go out raiding on their own. Players can put together a Raider team and then attack settlements throughout the Commonwealth.

Bethesda is giving players the option of being a more peaceful Raider. Players can negotiate with the settlers to hand a Settlement over or just kill everyone and claim it as your own.

New Weapons

“Nuka-World” wouldn’t be a Fallout 4 DLC without some new weapons. There is a AK Shovel Rifle, which was a popular DIY gun creation in the real world with the stock made from a shovel handle.

Bethesda is also introducing the Paddle Ball, which comes with various upgrade options. Players can add spikes to the ball, shock batteries, and even Nuka-Cola Quantum option to make a nitroglycerin-style weapon.

The strange pistol with the green vial from the “Nuka-World” debut trailer is finally identified. It is an Acid Soaker that shoots squirts of acid at enemies that causes damage and reduces their armor effectiveness.

Fallout 4 players will also gain access to the Thirst Zapper, the futuristic red gun held by the model in the Nuka-World logo. This weapon can be modded to use weaponized Nuka Cola to create devastating attacks on enemies in the game.

“Nuka-World” will be released for Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Tuesday, August 30. Those with a Season Pass will get it at no extra charge, while everyone else can pick it up for $19.99 or wait for the inevitable Game of the Year or Complete editions to pack everything together into a single release.
