VMA 2016: Best Celebrity Tweets – Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jimmy Fallon & More

Check out some of the best tweets from your favorite celebrities at the 2016 MTV VMAs.

Well, Beyonce has gone and shocked us all again with an amazing performance at the VMAs. Queen Bey has literally brought the internet to tears and awe.

Beyonce and her epic Lemonade performance was the most tweeted-about during the 2016 VMAs.

Beyonce and her crew of badass backup dancers dominated the MTV stage with a rendition that included five tracks from her latest visual album, Lemonade: “Pray You Catch Me,” “Hold Up,” “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” “Sorry” and “Formation.”

The superstar’s performance concluded with her dancers dropping to the ground in the formation of the gender symbol for women. The crowd gave Beyonce a standing ovation.

Despite divorce rumors and whispers that Jay Z was not in attendance, Bey and Jay partied it up after the VMA’s with friends Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie.

Jay Z was not in attendance on the red carpet. Instead, Beyonce took her daughter Blue Ivy, along with the mothers of the four black victims who were killed in the U.S. this year: Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant and Eric Garner.

Little Blue Ivy held her mother’s hand and wore a tulle skirt, tiara and pair of peach-colored kicks on her feet.

Beyonce certainly came to the 2016 VMA’s prepared. The singer had many outfit changes, including her red carpet gown featured in her Instagram photo below.

Beyonce had 11 VMA Nominations this year, according to the LA Times.

It was a special night for Rihanna, who would be receiving the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Rihanna turned the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards into her own personal showcase.

It was a memorable evening for Rihanna, who performed throughout the night before Drake presented the Vanguard award to the woman he’s “been in love with since [he] was 22 years old.”

Leave it to Rihanna to do things her own way. The pop star did not showcase her hit songs in a 15-minute rendition the way previous winners had. Rihanna chose to appear throughout the show in five-minute segments so that she would be able to play more of a variety of her hit songs that prove what a versatile artist she is.

Nicki Minaj had a bit of difficulty walking down the red carpet, but looked exquisite nonetheless in a floor length, cut-out blue dress.

The singer switched into an outfit that she could move around in a bit more for her performance with Ariana Grande singing their hit collaboration sing, “Side to Side.”

Nicki Minaj retweeted a fan who told her that she was a trending topic on Twitter.

Kanye West arrived to the 2016 with his wife, Kim Kardashian on his arm according to Vox. Kanye was given time to speak on live television by MTV and the singer gave a boggling speech.

“I came here to present my new video, [long pause] but before I do that, I’m gonna talk.”

Kanye talked about the 2009 VMAs incident.

“Famous’ might lose to Beyoncé, but I can’t be mad. I’m always wishing for Beyoncé to win.”

Basically, he talked about everything and nothing, all at once and viewers were a bit confused.

It was also a special night for Britney Spears last night.

Although her performance looked great visually, it was obvious the pop star was lip-syncing, and it was hard to follow up after Beyoncé’s astounding performance.

Britney performed her new song, “Make Me,” with rapper G-Eazy.

Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show, presented the biggest award of the evening, video of the year, to Beyonce.

Fallon dyed his hair platinum to make it look like he was dressed as Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte. Jimmy had plenty of digs and jokes set aside for the disgraced athlete.
