‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Finale Generates Huge Ratings For TLC

If you were hoping that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was starting to lose some of its steam, then you’re about to enter a world of serious depression. The popular TLC reality show generated huge ratings for its season finale; nearly 2.8 million people tuned into the program to marvel in the weekly antics of June Shannon and her unusual brood. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show tied in the 18- to 49-year-old demographic with the heavily-promoted NBC comedy Animal Practice, a fact that is sure to make TLC executives swell with pride.

Love her or hate her, Honey Boo Boo is apparently here to stay. The cable network recently ordered new episodes of the program including Halloween and Christmas episodes.

“Honey Boo Boo has become a pop culture phenomenon. What you see is what you get and we are excited to share even more of Alana and her family’s unbridled hilarity, sincerity and love with our viewers,” TLC general manager Amy Winter explained.

However, just because 2.7 million people showed up to watch the series finale of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo doesn’t mean that everyone was a fan of the episode. One writer at the Examiner didn’t have many positive things to say about the program, declaring the season’s final offering to be “awful.”

“The episode also has numerous shots of the family swatting at gnats. One includes a family photo shoot on a hot day. Another has the family swinging at the offending insects in the house. Almost everyone curses the bugs and the heat. Do any of these scenes add any value to the episode?” Kimberly Schure wrote in her review.

Although Here Comes Honey Boo Boo may have celebrated it’s season finale, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to wait very long for the family’s return. Expect Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas specials to arrive in the near future.
