Nokia Money Coming To The United States. Make Payments From Your Mobile Phone

The United States is one of the last frontiers when it comes to mobile payments. Europe, Japan and other regions all offer the ability to pay for items by simply sending a text message when shopping. Now it looks like U.S. customers will soon be able to take advantage of that same technology.

Known as Nokia Money, the cell phone manufacturer has announced that the program will be available starting in the U.S sometime next year. The program will allow customers to add more minutes to their prepaid phones, pay bills as they can with online bill pay and even pay merchants when your out shopping.

The program will require users to use a Nokia Money agent, which the company says it’s building out to include U.S. agencies. Nokia will be showing off the program this September with an “early 2010” roll out date for the program. [via Slashgear]
