‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Jamie Dornan Afraid To Ask Kim Basinger About Erotic ‘9½ Weeks’

Fifty Shades Darker is set to release on February 10, 2017. The film’s lead actor, Jamie Dornan, who plays the role of Christian Grey, recently talked about his feelings toward Kim Basinger, the 80’s star who portrayed the role of Grey’s BDSM mentor in Fifty Shades series.

In his recent conversation with Total Film Magazine, Dornan revealed that he never had the guts to talk Basinger about her erotic drama film.

“I didn’t ask Kim Basinger about 9½ Weeks,” he admitted. “I didn’t have big enough balls, in the way that maybe someone won’t be able to look me in the eye one day and talk about Fifty Shades.”

Directed by Adrian Lyne, 9½ Weeks was released in 1986, and it featured Basinger along with Mickey Rourke in the lead roles. The story followed John (Rourke), a wealthy businessman who gets into an erotic relationship with his art assistant, Elizabeth (Basinger).

The title of the film referred to the duration of their sexual relationship in which John is seen initiating and controlling various sexual practices with Elizabeth.

Upon its release, the movie failed to impress the audience because of the explicit content it featured, but over the years, it acquired a large fanbase and even developed a cult following. The erotic movie performed very well in Europe, especially in Italy, France, and in Latin America. Its success in France was so strong that the movie played for five long years at a Paris Cinema and garnered more than $100 million.

So, one can say that the portrayal of Dakota Johnson in Fifty Shades series is somewhat similar to Basinger’s character, and Doran’s fans can understand that it becomes difficult to talk to those actors and actresses who once portrayed such roles.

According to Coming Soon, Basinger’s character in Fifty Shades was first introduced in E. L. James’ second novel. The character goes by the name Mrs. Robinson and is the one who first taught Christian about everything related with BDSM, who also acted as her first dominant partner.

Meanwhile, it is also being reported that viewers will get to see Dornan shedding all his clothes in the upcoming Fifty Shades sequels.

In an earlier appearance on Watch What Happens Live alongside her co-star, Leslie Mann, Dakota Johnson opened up about Dornan’s portrayal of Christian in the movie. The actress also teased that there are chances that fans will get to see Dornan’s manhood in the upcoming sequels.

Johnson was first asked her opinion on showing more of Dornan’s skin in the film, and the actress stated that everyone wants to watch Dornan’s manhood.

In fact, the actor himself recently confirmed that if the director and the story would require him to show everything, then as an actor, he won’t hesitate. Before the filming of Fifty Shades of Darker, the actor revealed in his interview with People Magazine that he is looking forward to showing more in the upcoming erotic film.

“I’m looking forward to embodying Christian again – and getting a chance to show more of him.”

An insider also revealed to Hollywood Life that the studio had offered a substantial bonus to Dornan if he reveals his penis.

“They’re offering Jamie a bonus of $1.5 million to do a full-frontal scene in Fifty Shades Darker. That’s just a starting figure. Jamie would be crazy not to consider it,” the source further reported.

Well, if Jamie will show more of his skin in the coming part is yet to be seen.

Fifty Shades Darker is set to release in 2017, while the third and the last part in the franchise, Fifty Shades Freed, will premiere a year later.
