2016 MTV VMAs Red Carpet: The Good, Bad & Craziest Fashions From Britney Spears, Beyonce & More [Photos]

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took over New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 28, and it’s safe to say the biggest stars in music didn’t shy away from bringing some of the craziest fashions to the Big Apple red carpet.

Take a look at some of the good, the bad and the very craziest red carpet fashion worn by Beyonce, Britney Spears and more.

The Good

Britney Spears

Britney Spears kept things classic for her VMAs red carpet arrival, sporting a little black dress that perfectly showcased Spears’ seriously toned figure. Britney, who performed her new single “Make Me…” and the track “Me, Myself & I” on the VMA stage, stepped things up in the fashion stakes, keeping her LBD interesting with a seriously plunging cut out that stretched all the way from her right shoulder.

Beyonce, who stole the show with a 15-minute medley of tracks from her latest visual album Lemonade, seriously turned heads on the VMAs red carpet. The superstar sported a long-sleeve pale blue beaded gown which perfectly matched the VMAs blue and white backdrop and also featured a huge show stopping feather collar.

Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West walked the VMAs red carpet together, and surprisingly didn’t go for their usual matching and coordinated ensembles. While Kanye’s fashion moment saw him dressed in all white, Kardashian opted for a darker hue, opting for a plunging charcoal mini-dress that she sported off the shoulder.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande kept things all black for her VMAs look. The star, who performed her new single “Side To Side” alongside Nicki Minaj during the telecast, changed things up on a red carpet jam-packed with gowns and instead opted for a tiny black crop top and black dress pants. But, Grande didn’t stray too far from what she knows when it came to her hair, sticking to her signature ponytail.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj steered clear of her usually pretty bizarre red carpet fashion for her 2016 VMAs arrival, instead opting to be a little more covered up in a stunning blue mermaid gown. Nicki’s fashion choice perfectly showed off her stunning curves, making Minaj one of the best dressed of the night.

Naomi Campbell

Model Naomi Campbell certainly wasn’t afraid to show off a whole lot of leg with her VMAs fashion statement. Naomi walked the 2016 VMAs red carpet in a muted green mini-dress with a seriously high slit that showed off her toned catwalk-ready legs.

Cassie

Singer Cassie made a serious style statement with her VMAs fashion choice. The “Me & U” singer turned heads with her bright yellow hair, but kept things gold with her long gold pants and metallic box clutch. Cassie also opted to walk the VMAs red carpet sans bra, instead opting for just a grey military style blazer.

The Bad

G Eazy

Rapper G Eazy, who performed alongside Britney Spears on the VMAs stage, appeared to forget to button up his red velvet cowboy shirt when he walked the red carpet in tight leather pants.

Rita Ora

Fashion forward Rita Ora took a serious style risk when she hit the MTV VMAs red carpet. Ora made a pretty bizarre fashion statement with her outfit choice, which consisted of huge platform shoes, a black sheer dress (half covered in red and black feathers), and a black leather jacket with fur accents which appeared more appropriate for Halloween than the summer award show.

Jaden Smith

Never one to shy away from a fashion statement, Jaden Smith certainly didn’t blend into the crowd on the VMAs red carpet. Will Smith’s son opted for a unique look at the music award show, teaming a long jacket that featured pictures of cats with a sheer black net top.

Nev Schulman and Laura Perlongo

MTV’s Catfish host and his pregnant fiancée Laura Perlongo seriously turned heads with their red carpet arrival. While Nev appeared more like he was going to a BBQ than the music award show, his wife clearly wasn’t afraid to show off her pregnant tummy (and risk a wardrobe malfunction) as she opted for just a jacket to cover her chest.
