Is ‘Gravity Falls’ Season 3 Confirmed Over? Journal 3 Released And Comics Possible But Will Alex Hirsch Let Fans Watch Characters Bill, Dipper, And Mabel In New GF Episodes?

Those wanting to watch Gravity Falls Season 3 episodes online via Hulu have been creating photoshopped conspiracy theories of their own throughout 2016. This reaction has creeped out Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch — who was also the voice actor for Gravity Falls characters like Grunkle Stan, Soos, Old Man McGucket, Bill Cipher, and other Gravity Falls cast — since he is being constantly assaulted with a torrent of requests from GF fans who want to see Dipper and Mabel make a return. There are even reports that Gravity Falls Season 3 is “confirmed”, but finding the truth in this matter does not require owning a special Gravity Falls journal (although you can buy such Gravity Falls merchandise now). Still, is it possible that Disney fans may hold out hope for a future for GF Season 3 even if it’s through comics?

Earlier in 2016, Hirsch confirmed Gravity Falls Season 3 to not yet be in the plans for future Disney XD release date. The Gravity Falls ending, Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls, was written a year before the premiere date, so the animation team had a pretty good idea on where the story would end. But finishing off Season 2 with the final Gravity Fall episodes was apparently an arduous process where the only mystery was finding time for sleep.

“I promised myself, ‘This is it. You’re not making another season. You’re done.’ Because I was wiped out,” Hirsch recalls.

Despite confirming that GF Season 3 would never happen, Hirsch felt that he needed to reward fans who were still celebrating the show. The Gravity Falls Hulu launch in 2016 made the Disney TV show even more popular and then over the summer Hirsch started an international scavenger hunt based upon decoding cryptic tweets.

It turns out this “Cipher Hunt” led fans to a real-life statue of Gravity Falls‘ Bill Cipher. the major villain of the story.

The Gravity Falls Journal 3 project was also released recently on Amazon, and even though Gravity Falls Season 3 isn’t planned yet the journal actually provides more back story to the history of Dipper Pines’ family. Similar to how the Harry Potter story was extended with a screenplay, Journal 3 is almost a Gravity Falls prequel combined with diaries written by Ford, Dipper, and Mabel. As might be expected, there are even more ciphers to figure out and Dipper’s name is even revealed. The only thing missing is black light messages, although Hirsch would love to create a special edition if Journal 3 sells enough copies.

“I thought about nothing but the Pines Family for four years, so my brain is packed with stories, ideas, jokes that never made it into the series for one reason or another,” Alex Hirsch said in an interview with Paste Magazine. “This journal was a great way to introduce some of those lost ideas, and to create a parting gift to our fans.”

The Gravity Falls journal tells the story of Ford through a first-person narrative, including details on his inter-dimensional journey over 30 years. As Hirsch explains, he “wanted to give a little insight into how someone as smart as Ford could do something as monumentally stupid as joining forces with a demon” like Bill Cipher. This story is broken up by profiles of the various supernatural creatures and eventually Dipper and Mabel end the story with thoughts on what happened during Gravity Falls Season 2.

Of course, what everyone wants is some word on whether Gravity Falls Season 3 can be resurrected without being yucky like a zombie. After all, last November Hirsch did hold out a thread of hope by saying, “It’s not inconceivable that one day we may return to this world because they are such rich characters, and with a little bit of time away from it, it’s possible there may be a special or something.” Hirsch was asked if a Gravity Falls TV show spinoff was possible, but so far the only hope we’re being given now is the possibility of Gravity Falls comics.

“Believe it or not, Gravity Falls as we know it really is done…. Seriously though, I love the world of Gravity Falls, but I need to move on to other things for now,” he explained. “Although I have been considering Gravity Falls comics. We’ll see what Disney Publishing says. Fingers crossed!”

GF fans should also be happy to hear that Alex Hirsch has plans for another “top secret” TV show.

If Disney ever does release Gravity Falls Season 3 episodes, where would you like to see the story take Dipper and Mabel?
