Facebook Sued: Adult Film Star Drops $1B Lawsuit On Mark Zuckerberg

A former Houston-based adult film star who goes by the name Lady Paree is dropping a startling $1 billion lawsuit on Mark Zuckerberg.

The actress, whose real name is Paree La’Tiejira, is suing Facebook after alleging that founder Mark Zuckerberg and his company tried to ruin her adult entertainment career. In the lawsuit, Paree claims Zuckerberg did not put an end to the rumors that she was born a man from ending on Facebook. The rumors prompted Paree to end her adult film career and had to find other work.

Paree claims that she received constant death threats on the social media site and tried to put an end to the rumors. She even reported the threats to Facebook, but the company did not do anything to stop the harassment. Now, Paree is seeking $1 billion in federal court, according to TheNextWeb.com. She is accusing the popular social media site and Zuckerberg of “intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

This isn’t Paree’s first lawsuit against a major company. Back in 2009, she sued Leisure Time Entertainment and producer Mark Carriere in an Indiana court. That lawsuit alleged that the adult entertainment group and producer made “false and defamatory statements” claiming that Paree was born with both male and female parts.

During that 2009 trial, the court found that Paree was in fact born a woman and has never undergone any surgeries to alter her biological sex. Carriere did not appear in court to defend himself. Paree was awarded $2.5 million in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages.

According to the court documents filed on Tuesday, Aug. 23 in the Southern District of Texas, Houston-born Paree La’Tiejira previously starred in adult films that were filmed in Los Angeles back in the mid-1990s under the stage name Lady Paree. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in the adult entertainment industry in 1993. She starred in over 200 films, according to the court documents. Two years later, Paree moved back to her hometown of Houston, Texas.

The 41-year-old former adult film star is unemployed and filed the lawsuit pro se, without the help of a lawyer, notes Chron.com. Paree claimed that these recent statements have put her at risk for violent acts. She mentioned that the online statements caused her to become battered and assaulted by fans. In the court documents, Paree claims that an ex-fan slashed her with a knife, slicing her face open, while saying that she was born a man. The violent altercation left Paree with injuries that required 150 stitches and cosmetic surgery, which leaves a scar on the left side of her face.

Paree believes that Zuckerberg and Facebook has done nothing to put a stop to the false statements and ongoing harassment. She believes that the CEO and founder is to blame since he manages and operates the social media site.

“Such intentional, malicious, or grossly negligent publication by defendants has caused her economic and compensatory damages, as well as emotional distress and physical pain so severe that she has had to seek professional assistance to cope with the damages caused by Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg,” the court documents state.

The lawsuit does not specify who posted the false statements on Facebook, but a person named Kyle Anders is also named as a defendant. In addition, Paree doesn’t point to specific posts or statements she takes issue with, but she has also listed unnamed defendants as “A, B, C,” according to the Daily Mail. Additionally, according to the court documents, she has used 20 aliases.

Paree was contacted by the British newspaper. Her only comment was “You’re good,” and then she hung up the phone. Zuckerberg has been reached for comment.
