So much for Sports Betting in Delaware

Delaware Governor though he had the perfect plan to help his state deal with severe budget short falls. He had planned to legalize sports betting and tax the revenue generated by such activities. In a very real way it was almost a perfect plan. Since sports betting goes on anyways why shouldn’t the state get their cut right?

Let be really honest here sports betting is one of those things that takes place in our society, and it is a generally accepted practice. Without being a big sports betting guy, I know for a fact four or five different places I could get down on a few sports games. The major sports leagues and the NCAA want to make us believe that people are not betting on sports, but I am willing to bet that at least one of the people reading this has money riding on a sports contest.

However a Appeals court judge has ruled that state sanctioned sports betting would violate the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection act. There fore there shall be no sports betting in Delaware or anywhere else outside of Las Vegas.

However state lawmakers argue that Delaware was exempt from this law since it once ran a NFL Lottery game that required betters to lay down a parlay, or several bets on at least three different games. Delaware lawmakers were fairly shocked at the court’s ruling.
