‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Damon Salvatore Forced To Serve An Evil Entity, Julie Plec Teases [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will be premiering on The CW network soon. What can viewers expect from Damon, Enzo, Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie, and the rest of the characters? Recently, executive producer Julie Plec teased what to expect, especially from Damon Salvatore.

There are spoilers for TVD below. If you don’t want to know what happens when the show returns, then stop reading.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, expect a high body count when The Vampire Diaries returns. Currently, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are affected by the creature that was inside the vault. Now, that monster is out roaming around and forcing the vampires to do horrible things. In fact, actor Matt Davis, who plays Alaric on TVD said that Damon and Enzo would be forced to perform “gruesome executions.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Julie Plec revealed just how powerless Damon Salvatore was going to be in Season 8. Expect him to just be a minion and serving an evil entity.

“Damon has unfortunately become a little bit of a servant to an evil who has an opinion on what should happen to people who do bad things. He’s a little bit of a minion at the moment, and we’ll have to learn who he’s a minion for and why.”

According to Melty, Matt Davis said that nobody can hide their deepest, darkest secrets from the mystery monster. No matter how hard someone tries to hide what they have done, the creature knows. It makes one wonder who these people are that Damon and Enzo are being forced to punish. Are they truly bad people or just good people who have done bad things? There is a big difference, but nobody should be forced to do the villain’s dirty work.

“What I like about this villain in particular is that everyone has a dark secret and there’s something about this villain that just knows what it is. No matter how much you try to hide it, it will pull it out of you. So it can see the evil that you try to hide within yourself and that’s what I like about it.”

Other spoilers for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 include the characters using as little magic as possible, at least in the beginning. The executive producer revealed this tidbit in a Comic-Con interview with TV Line. As fans recall, during the Season 7 finale, Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) lost Damon and Enzo. She also lost her magic, which will make finding the vampires and dealing with the villain difficult.

It was revealed by TV Guide that in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, a woman will have her eyes set on Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). He is with Caroline Forbes (Candice King), but could this powerful entity break up “Steroline”? It was teased that she usually gets what she wants, so Stefan and Caroline might find themselves in trouble once again.

In a separate article from TV Guide, it was revealed what is coming next for Damon on The Vampire Diaries. Season 8 spoilers from writer Brian Young give fans a glimpse of what to expect from Ian Somerhalder’s character.

“What we really wanted to do was give Damon a chance to act on Bad Damon again, but do it in a way that we can always forgive him for. Season 8 is going to be rough for Damon and Enzo because bad s**t is going on. But Stefan, always believing the best in his brother, believes Damon is still in there.”

At Comic-Con, Ian Somerhalder said fans would see the “push and pull” between Damon and the mystery monster. So, he has to still be in his body and mind somewhere.

What do you think is going to happen with Damon Salvatore? Find out on October 21, when The CW network premieres The Vampire Diaries Season 8.
