‘Titanfall 2’ Open Beta Patched For Second Weekend, Full Details

When PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners fire up the second weekend of the Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Tech Test on Friday, they should find some welcome changes to the first-person shooter. Respawn Entertainment was able to quickly deliver a patch to the game in response to player feedback from the first weekend.

Respawn Entertainment responded earlier this week to some of the negative feedback from Weekend 1 of the Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Tech Test. Fans complained movement was too slow in this new iteration, and the ability to chain together wall-runs to fly across the map was missing. The wide-open “Homestead” was a sore point as well since players could find few places to utilize their Pilot’s wall-running ability to traverse the map. The ability to call in Titans being solely based on player kills and capturing objectives was another sore point.

These and other items have been addressed in the patch released to this test build of Titanfall 2. Players should experience increased wall-running speed and air speed, plus better acceleration when jumping off walls.

On the Titan side of the equation, a player’s Titan gauge will charge slowly with a small amount added every five seconds. The goal is to guarantee at least one Titan drop for players during matches, just like the original 2014 release. Don’t be surprised if this is tweaked further for the full release.

The Bounty Hunt gametype receives some tweaks as well with this Titanfall 2 patch. Players saw the time run out in these matches more often than a team reaching the 6,000 points needed to win. Respawn Entertainment has dropped the score limit by 1,000 as a result but has reduced the phase where players banked their money to 45 seconds from one minute.

Note that the “Invite Friends” option is still broken for this second and final weekend of the Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Tech Test. Respawn Entertainment was not able to get it fixed in time to make sure the patch with all the other fixes released.

Players can look forward to two “Amped Happy Hour” events on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. PT and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. PT. Those who play Titanfall 2 during these times will receive an exclusive callsign with the full launch of the game.

Here are the patch notes for Titanfall 2 shared to the game’s official website.

The Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Tech Test will run from Friday, August 26 through Sunday, August 28 for the second weekend. The start time should be around 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT. PlayStation 4 owners can download it now from the PlayStation Store while Xbox One owners can download it from the Microsoft Store. The download size is just under 12 GB.

The Forward Base Kodai map will be added for this second Titanfall 2 tech test weekend. Respawn Entertainment implied this is a more traditional map with wall-running lanes and more verticality for Pilots. It should be interesting to see if these changes plus the addition of the new map assuages some of the concerns from the first weekend of testing.
