When A Pastor Prayed For A ‘Strong African-American’ To Stand Beside Donald Trump [Video]

Donald Trump may be going after the African-American vote, but this isn’t the first time he toyed with the idea. Long before his nomination was secured, a group of pastors prayed and prophesied Trump to be president. The meeting was held in Tampa, Florida, and led by Trump’s spiritual adviser, Paula White. Approximately 26 seconds into the video, the pastor praying asks God for a strong, African-American to stand beside Trump in order to reach the black community. Unfortunately, that leader didn’t show up before Trump was depicted a racist and his credibility was seriously damaged.

Is Trump really a racist? Is he a race opportunist? Would a KKK member consent to being prayed over and have hands laid on him by African-American pastors? If Trump isn’t a racist, why would he say some of the most troubling statements he’s made in the past? Is it actually feasible that there is another reason for some of Trump’s comments?

Hillary Clinton is running an ad depicting Trump as the “white supremacist’s” choice. Certainly no KKK member would be in the same room with black pastors and have them pray over him in such a manner. Should Donald Trump be held responsible for the actions of those who say they will vote for him? Maybe KKK members would be less likely to support Trump if they saw the above video.

Paula White is the former pastor of Without Walls International Church and currently presides over New Destiny Christian Center following the sudden death of Pastor Zachery Tims. Both churches have large African-American congregations. The idea that Paula White is racist is laughable. It appears highly doubtful that Trump was watching White on Christian television, being led to salvation and appearing in church settings with his spiritual adviser if he were a racist. What can’t be debated are the statements Trump has made. There is no question that Hillary Clinton’s greatest ammunition against Trump comes from Trump’s own mouth. No one knows why Trump can go off the teleprompter and say the things he says. It’s possible he doesn’t have an explanation either. Maybe Trump has been in the media spotlight for so long he’s used to saying inappropriate things to get a media buzz? Can he really undo the damage done?

Hillary Clinton is a politician. She has history of being a politician and is now deep in scandal. Trump has no history in politics. There are no scandals involving wars, attempting to steal elections, or allegedly lying to the FBI. The greatest scandal Trump has is from his own mouth. Does that mean it is possible for him to correct the damage he has said? Even in the interview with Paula White she had to give an account for how Trump called second Corinthians “two Corinthians.” Trump has a habit of saying the wrong thing about many subjects. Will that matter in the long run? There is a difference between what someone says and what someone does. Right now, Trump’s greatest fault is the words that he has said. Not what he has done. Unlike Hillary Clinton, who is under fire for things she has done.

Donald Trump spoke to Anderson Cooper and stated he is going to be visiting black churches. Paula White has many notable friends who are African-American pastors. Clearly, Trump has already been in contact with many African-American pastors, as evidenced by the laying on of hands ceremony. Should Trump visit black churches and if the original pastor’s plea for a strong African-American to stand by Trump come to pass, could Trump actually win the black vote?

It’s hard to imagine that Trump’s close relationship with Paula White isn’t helping his credibility with African-American supporters. It’s also doubtful that the media picture of the black community adamantly against Trump is accurate. Paula White has vouched for Trump and many black pastors who know him insist he isn’t a racist. Will time spent with people in black churches be enough to convince the African-American voter that Trump really is on their side? Is a strong, African-American leader going to stand by his side?
