WizeHive Collaboration Platform Improves With New Upgrades

Collaboration platform, WizeHive, has just launched a bunch of new features that add a ton of new functionality to their site. Here’s a quick summary:

– WizeHive is releasing a series of upgrades that continues to build out the collaboration platform’s internal tools while extending the reach outside of the application.

– The new features include a bookmarklet, integrated calendar, and integrated file viewing for uploaded documents.

– The bookmarklet is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

– The integrated calendar works enables iCalendar to send tasks and events to Google, Yahoo, and Outlook systems.

– The File Viewer update enables the visual scanning of files without having to open them to discover the contents.

We took a look at their system and were quite impressed. The new upgrades above are added on top of WizeHive’s current features like an Adobe Air desktop application so you don’t actually have to be on their site to manage and perform tasks, a mobile application for both the iPhone and Blackberry, an API, 3D task management, email and Twitter Integration Alerts, as well as the ability for a group leader to brand the pages of the workspace with company logos.

If you’re using the system to collaborate on projects for personal use, you can have up to 3 people in your workspace. But larger groups and businesses can use WizeHive for a monthly fee that won’t break the bank. Both small business and team accounts are available where you can have up to 10 users and 3 gigs of space, with the option to add more users and space to each account for an extra monthly fee.

There are a number of other competing collaboration tools out there that allow groups of people to work on projects together online, but out of the ones I’ve looked at WizeHive has my vote.

Here’s the official WizeHive press release:

WizeHive Builds Out Comprehensive Collaboration Platform

Release of bookmarklet, calendaring, and file view tools simplify information sharing for project management

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – August 25, 2009 – WizeHive, a powerful SaaS-based collaboration platform, is releasing a series of upgrades that continues the theme of providing more powerful tools within while extending the reach outside of the application.

New features with this release include a bookmarklet for quickly capturing content while on any web page, an integrated calendar with ical support, a separate link sharing page, and integrated file viewing for uploaded documents.

The bookmarklet, which is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Opera, lets users quickly send links to web content to WizeHive without ever leaving the web page or opening WizeHive. This means users can send information to WizeHive directly from their email, Twitter account, or any web page where they find interesting content.

The integrated calendar display tasks and events in monthly, weekly and daily views and can be filtered to display calendar entries for everyone in your group or just your own. In addition, users can enable iCalendar support to send tasks and events to popular calendar systems found in Google, Yahoo, and Outlook.

Simplicity and efficiency is always top of mind and was the driving force in the inclusion of the File Viewer update that enables the visual scanning of files without having to open them to discover the contents.

“Our beta user’s have given us some very useful feedback on features they’d like to see added,” said Mike Levinson, CEO and co-founder of WizeHive. “As we move toward launching our first official release in the fall of 2009, we’re adding and refining those features to create the market’s most comprehensive and easiest to use collaboration platform.”

The collaboration platform, launched in late 2008, is unique in how it allows people to use their established communication channels to manage projects and tasks, share files, track activity, and collaborate in secure, private workspaces.
