Since Justin Timberlake is now no longer a singer, but an actor (and social media entrepreneur) he’s laying down deeper roots in Hollywood by courting the lead role in the upcoming dramatic rom-com, The Last Drop.

The 31-year-old actor can currently be seen in Trouble with the Curve alongside Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams, but according to Perez Hilton, he’s setting his sights on the leading role in Drop, which will be directed by Peter Sollett of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist fame. If Timberlake can get it in, he will play an alcoholic food critic who decides to change his life so that he can be with the love of his life.

According to MovieWeb, the screenplay was written by Brandon and Phil Murphy, and will be produced by Greg Shapiro through Kingsgate Films, his production company. Good Universe founders Nathan Kahane and Joseph Drake will executive produce. No production schedule has been released as of this posting, but the film is expected to premiere in 2013.

Next, Justin Timberlake will be seen in Inside Llewyn Davis, a Coen Brothers film, and then Brad Furman’s Runner, Runner.

Otherwise, Timberlake is currently promoting the new MySpace after joining as an investor in 2011 and promising a full-on makeover, putting MySpace back in the ring as a social media giant.

Timberlake discussed some details regarding the makeover in a recent interview, saying: “It’s just bringing the connection that much closer while still making the artist feel comfortable that they can make their art, lock themselves in a room and torture themselves as they do, and still find a way to comfortably connect with their fan base.”
