Burbank, CA (AHN) – The Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant in Burbank, California is celebrating green style its 60th year in business on Sept. 24 by inaugurating a 26 kilowatt solar power panel.

The oldest Bob’s Big Boy outlet in the U.S. dubbed the celebration “Sixty and Solar” to highlight the unveiling of the Canadian Solar panel installed by HelioPower on a carport roof. The panel is already generating electricity to partly power the restaurant.

The 39 megawatt hours of electricity produced by the solar panel system is enough to meet the electrical demands of seven homes, according to a press release of Bob’s Big Boy. The same capacity offsets the carbon emission of 57,000 miles of driving and the equivalent of 78 trees planted.

Aside from the solar panel, the restaurant also practices recycling and uses energy-efficient lighting.

The Riverside Drive restaurant has served celebrities, including movie stars and the world’s top musical talents, over the years.
