‘The Walking Dead’: Michael Cudlitz On Abraham, Rosita, Sasha, And Eugene Growing Up [Spoilers]

Last season on The Walking Dead, fans were shocked at how coldly Abraham Ford broke up with Rosita Espinosa. Recently, actor Michael Cudlitz spoke about the split, Abraham’s feelings for Sasha, Eugene growing up and more.

There might be spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 below. If you do not want to risk knowing what could happen next, then stop reading.

Ever since Abraham was introduced on TWD, he has been with Rosita (Christian Serratos). However, in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, there was a romance brewing between Abe and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). Eventually, it led Michael Cudlitz’s character to break things off with Rosita. It wasn’t the fact that the two broke up that was upsetting. It was the way Abraham did it. As fans recall, Abe came home, started packing his things, and said the relationship was over. Rosita was stunned, of course. She wanted answers, which only angered Abe. He finally admitted that he was only with her because he thought she was the last woman on Earth. Talk about cold.

Soon after, Abraham started to really think about his feelings, the possibility of being with Sasha, and fatherhood. In an interview with Yahoo! TV, the actor discussed the situation and why Abe broke things off so brutally with Rosita.

“I think with his skill set, it was the only way he could do it. Look, he tried to say, ‘I’m leaving. It’s over.’ She’s like, ‘Why? Why? Why? Why?’ He just snaps — because he doesn’t have the words. He can’t explain it like I can explain it. It’s not part of who he is. It’s not in his makeup. He falls back to the only thing he can, which is, ‘If I’m really mean to her, she’ll go away.’ It’s brutal. It’s horrible. It’s mean. It’s probably the most wrong thing he could say, but it’s effective.”

Even though Abraham had feelings for Rosita, that was not the only reason he broke up with Rosita on The Walking Dead. Cudlitz explained that there was a love there, but it was more of a convenience. He was able to tell that Rosita loved him much more than he loved her. He felt she deserved more than that.

In the interview, the TWD actor was asked about his favorite moment in Season 6. He had plenty, but one of them had to do with Eugene (Josh McDermitt). As viewers remember, Abraham and Eugene had a confrontation. There was also a moment in which Abe said farewell to Eugene. He had grown up and learned to stand on his own two feet.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there are rumors that Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham die in The Walking Dead. This cannot be confirmed until the Season 7 premiere, but it seems to be the strongest theory. If so, fans will be upset to see both Glenn and Abraham leave the show. Both are strong characters, and fans have fallen in love with them.

As for what else to expect in The Walking Dead Season 7, new communities, leaders, and survivors will be introduced. Fans met Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Shiva in the official trailer, which was unveiled at Comic-Con 2016. In the comic books, Ezekiel and the Kingdom help Alexandria and the Hilltop Colony defeat Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors.

What do you think of what Michael Cudlitz had to say about Abraham, Rosita, Sasha, and Eugene? Were you stunned by how Abe broke up with Rosita last season? What do you expect to happen with Abraham Ford and the rest of the characters in Season 7?
