5 Reasons The Buffalo Bills Will Win The AFC East Division Title

The Buffalo Bills are heading into the 2016 NFL season without much hype surrounding them. Rex Ryan still believes that he can lead his team back to the playoffs. It won’t be easy, but there is hope for the Bills.

Looking at the AFC East division race, the Bills are going to be a serious contender to steal the division title away from the New England Patriots.

Buffalo has rebuilt the right way and seems to have figured out how to get back into contention. Ryan has always been a defensive head coach and they have given him a very strong defensive unit to work with. Tyrod Taylor was signed to a long-term contract extension as ESPN reported, which gives them the long-term quarterback that they needed to find.

New England has been the favorite for quite some time and are expected to win the division again this season. Todd Bowles and the New York Jets should also put a much more competitive team on the field as well. Miami has a lot of work to do, although they will not be a pushover.

All of that being said, what five reasons support the statement that the Bills will win the AFC East division title this season?

Tom Brady Serving a Four-Game Suspension

Tom Brady chose not to contest the four-game suspension that the NFL has handed down to him, as USA Today reported. There is always a chance that the Patriots won’t skip a beat without Brady on the field this season for the first four games. New England doesn’t have terribly tough games in the first four weeks, although losing one of the first four games would be a big blow to them. Buffalo could get off to a quick start, while the Patriots could struggle.

Tyrod Taylor Will Take the Next Step in His Second Season Starting

Last season was a very promising start to Tyrod Taylor’s career with the Bills. He ended up completing 63.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,035 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Taylor will take the next step in his second season with the Bills and will be an even bigger playmaker.

LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins’ Playmaking Ability

Buffalo is without question needy of their offensive playmakers to come through with big seasons. LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins are without question two of the bigger playmakers in the AFC East. They will both come through with big years for the Bills and will help them back into the playoffs.

Rex and Rob Ryan’s Defensive Prowess

Another storyline to keep an eye on this season is the defensive prowess of the Ryan brothers. Rob joined Rex’s staff this offseason after things with the New Orleans Saints went south. Buffalo has the personnel needed to have an above average defense and the Ryans will do everything in their power to take their defense to the top of the NFL.

Development of Young Talent

Every team has young talent, but the Bills have a few young players who are capable of becoming stars. Ronald Darby, Shaq Lawson, Reggie Ragland, and many more players are going to take big leaps this season. If players develop the way that they are capable of developing, the Bills’ young talent could very well power them into the postseason.

Expect to see the Bills be a major contender this season. While they may not end up being a Super Bowl contender, they will be in the AFC East division race. New England is still favored to win the division, but the Bills are going to make them work for it.
