‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Damon And Enzo Perform Gruesome Executions – Julie Plec Teases High Body Count [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will premiere this fall on The CW network. What can fans expect when the supernatural TV show returns? Executive producer Julie Plec revealed a few tidbits about the creature that was inside the vault. Yes, the same one that is affecting Damon and Enzo. It turns out there will be a high body count and the two vampires will be forced to perform some gruesome executions.

TVD spoilers are ahead. If you do not want to know what will happen in the upcoming season, then stop reading.

When The Vampire Diaries returns with Season 8, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will already be under the creature’s influence. Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Caroline Forbes (Candice King), Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham), and Alaric (Matt Davis) will use maps and news reports to track the missing vampires. When they hear about dozens of missing people along the West Coast, it is assumed that Damon and Enzo are somewhere nearby.

A few details were revealed about the monster shortly after the Season 7 finale. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, it was stated that the creature was thousands of years old. It was also teased that it could get inside of the heads of its intended victims. TVD fans saw an example of this when it somehow knew how important Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) was to Damon. Not only did it use her memory but was able to perfectly mimic her voice. This is what sucked Damon into its grip.

Executive producer Julie Plec and the cast of The Vampire Diaries spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the monster that is affecting Damon and Enzo.

“Enzo and Damon are doing some really bad things in the name of somebody who is controlling them, and so the goal is to rescue them from that situation without everybody else getting sucked into it as well. So there’s a pretty high body count and a pretty gruesome method of execution for every victim.”

At the end of the Season 7 finale, viewers got a taste of this. Damon and Enzo were seen with dozens of bodies hanging in what appeared to be a warehouse. From all the blood, the victims do look like they were tortured and died a horrible death.

Matt Davis also had some information to share regarding the TVD villain, according to Melty.

“What I like about this villain in particular is that everyone has a dark secret and there’s something about this villain that just knows what it is. No matter how much you try to hide it, it will pull it out of you. So it can see the evil that you try to hide within yourself and that’s what I like about it.”

It is no surprise that Damon Salvatore has some dark secrets. When he was first introduced at the beginning of The Vampire Diaries, he wasn’t a good guy. He enjoyed tormenting his brother, Stefan Salvatore. He also liked causing all kinds of trouble in Mystic Falls. However, once “Delena” became an item, Nina Dobrev’s character seemed to change Damon for the better. Fans were worried what Elena’s sleeping spell would do to Ian Somerhalder’s character. For a time, he drank heavily and was not himself. However, he eventually pulled through and is focusing on other things, like his friendship with Bonnie Bennett, which was almost destroyed last season.

At Comic-Con 2016, a look back at all the TVD villains was released. It also offered a glimpse into what to expect from the creature when The Vampire Diaries returns.
