5 Players Who Could Be Traded Before The 2016 NFL Trade Deadline

The 2016 NFL season is upon us and there are quite a few stories to keep an eye on as the preseason is halfway through. Whether it be rookie stars with high expectations or veterans trying to make the final roster, there are things that have made this part of the season intriguing to watch.

Now that the time is coming for teams to cut down their rosters, it is time to begin looking for big roster moves.

While there aren’t a ton of trades made throughout the course of the NFL regular season, there are a good amount of deals swung around this time of year. Teams will always look to place a player on the trade block before simply releasing him. One team’s trash is another team’s treasure, so to speak.

It will be interesting to see which players end up being moved this season. There are a few different names that seem to be on the hot seat in their current situations.

Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay is stacked with talent at the wide receiver position, and Davante Adams has seen his name in rumors all offseason long. After failing to live up to the expectations last season, there is a chance that Adams could lose his roster spot. If that is indeed the case, it won’t be difficult for Green Bay to find a team interested in acquiring Adams.

Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns

Josh McCown has been mentioned in trade rumors this offseason and is a potential trade target for teams in need of quarterback help. CBS Sports reported earlier this offseason that the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns discussed a deal for McCown. He may not end up being traded anywhere, but there is certainly interest in him around the league.

Ronnie Hillman, Denver Broncos

Denver could end up trading one of their running backs before the start of the 2016 regular season. According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Ronnie Hillman doesn’t appear likely to make the Broncos’ 53-man roster. If he doesn’t end up earning the roster spot, Hillman will be placed on the trade block and would likely get scooped up quickly by another team.

DeSean Jackson, Washington Redskins

Obviously, DeSean Jackson is the biggest surprise on this list. Washington would only look to trade him if they are confident in rookie wide receiver Josh Doctson. Doctson and Jackson have a very similar skill-set and the Redskins are deep at the wide receiver position with Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder. Jackson may not end up getting talked about in trade scenarios, but it isn’t too far-fetched.

Mike Glennon, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is very happy with the progression of second-year quarterback Jameis Winston. Mike Glennon is still sitting behind Winston, but would like to have a chance to play elsewhere if the right situation came around. He might not be available in trade talks, although his name has come up over the past couple of offseasons in trade rumors.

Expect to see some trades come up over the next couple of weeks as the regular season draws closer. These five players are likely available at the right price. There is always the chance that none of them end up getting moved before the trade deadline, but they seem like some of the likeliest names to be moved.

Do you think these five players could be moved before the trade deadline this season? Are there other players that you think are likely to be traded? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
