Worst Thing About Tom Cruise Divorce? Missing Suri

Tom Cruise may have settled his much-publicized and surprising divorce with Katie Holmes quickly and smoothly, but that doesn’t mean that the actor isn’t still dealing with the emotional fallout of the split. Specifically, Cruise laments lost time with his daughter, Suri.

Cruise is still coping with the change his divorce from Katie Holmes has made in his relationship with their daughter. According to MSN, 6-year-old Suri had been planning on visiting her father this month in London where he’s currently shooting All You Need Is Kill, but that trip was ultimately cancelled. “I’ve got to see her,” Tom told a friend. “I miss her.”

The 50-year-old actor has been physically separated from his daughter for almost two months. The two were last together in early August, following a Disney World vacation, reports People.

Compounding the isolation is Suri’s new school in New York, which requires stricter attention and less flexibility than the home-schooling she previously received. Also, Cruise’s intense film schedule, reflecting commitments made prior to Holmes’ filing for divorce in June, has presented a challenge. The two’s schedules just don’t really jive right now.

Still, being separated by work, school, and even an ocean can keep Cruise and Suri from interacting. Tom’s screenwriter-friend, Christopher McQuarrie, says that the two regularly keep in touch: “I haven’t had a meeting with Tom that was not interrupted by a phone call with his daughter.”

A previous report today alleges that Tom Cruise is on the outs with Scientology, despite being the controversial religion’s veritable poster boy. If true, Cruise’s decision to leave Scientology may have a positive influence on both his career and his family life, as it has been cited as a prime reason for his split from Holmes.
