Tyler Baltierra Faces Social Media Backlash After ‘Teen Mom OG’ Preview Shows Him Fat-Shaming Catelynn Lowell

Tyler Baltierra has been scrutinized for the comments he has made to his wife, Catelynn Lowell. The two starred on the first Teen Mom season on MTV. They rose to stardom when they jointly decided to give up their daughter for adoption instead of struggling to raise her when they were unable to take care of themselves. Despite all of the hardships they have endured, Baltierra and Lowell were married last year. No one could have guessed their relationship would make it through all of the ups and downs it has, but they are still together and working on things as a couple.

Teen Mom OG premieres tonight. A trailer for Season 6 was released not too long ago and showed Tyler Baltierra slamming his wife for being a “heifer” and encouraging her to begin Weight Watchers again. Catelynn Lowell gave birth to the couple’s second daughter, Nova, just over a year ago. According to Starcasm, Tyler Baltierra responded to the backlash he received after the Teen Mom OG trailer began to circulate. He basically said that Catelynn Lowell knows how he is and that they don’t sugarcoat things when talking to each other. He insists she was not upset about the comment and that is just they way they communicate. Several tweets were posted to Twitter, including many joking ones mocking the fact that people were offended by the way he talked to his wife.

Unfortunately, Tyler Baltierra has been through a lot in life. He grew up with a father who was in and out of jail, more often in than out. He was recently released and has been a part of Teen Mom OG alongside Baltierra and his wife, Catelynn Lowell. There was a Being Butch special aired by MTV with a look into the life of Tyler’s dad. The situation is complicated and Baltierra was deeply affected by his father’s absence. It was discussed last season, bringing up a lot of feelings that many were unaware he even had. He admitted he considered killing himself, but quickly reminded everyone that was a long time ago. Baltierra has admitted that he needs to work on communication in general.

Just a few months ago, Tyler Baltierra had to step up and be a single parent for a few weeks while Catelynn Lowell went to Arizona for treatment. It was revealed she was battling depression and some other issues and went away to fix those. Baltierra stayed back home in Michigan with their daughter. Some of this will be shown on Season 6 of Teen Mom OG. When it was announced that Lowell went to rehab, fans reached out to Tyler. He kept fans updated on Lowell’s progress and work towards her release. She took the right steps to help herself, and it will help her to be the best mom she can be.

Season 6 of Teen Mom OG begins tonight and will focus on the struggles Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell have been facing during their first year of marriage. Welcoming Nova into their lives has changed them for the better. They remain close with the daughter they gave up for adoption several years ago and visit her at least once a year. While Baltierra didn’t have an easy life, he has made the best of what he has been given. As the show follows his time alone with Nova while Lowell was in rehab, fans will be able to experience a softer side of him. Tyler Baltierra may have been out of line by insinuating his wife is a “heifer,” but he wasn’t intentionally dogging his wife in front of the MTV cameras.
