‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Nina Dobrev Returning To ‘TVD’ Confirmed — Find Out All The Details [Spoilers]

Fans of The Vampire Diaries have been anxiously waiting to find out if Nina Dobrev will return. It turns out that she is, but there is one tiny string attached. Find out all the TVD details right here.

There may be possible spoilers for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 below. If you do not want to know what could happen on TVD, then stop reading.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Nina Dobrev was in discussions to return to The Vampire Diaries in Season 8. When TV Line spoke to executive producer Julie Plec and the cast of TVD at Comic-Con 2016, Dobrev’s return was teased. The showrunner explained that Nina made an emotional promise to come back. At the time, nothing had been decided, but that all changed this weekend. BreatheCast reported that the actress is confirmed to appear in the upcoming season. However, don’t expect to see her in multiple episodes.

The publication stated that Dobrev will only be appearing in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 16, which is the finale. When Nina originally promised to return to TVD, she said she would come back before the series ended. As fans know, the upcoming season is the last for the Salvatore brothers and the rest of the characters.

There were rumors that Dobrev could be the monster that was inside the vault, the same one that affected Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). However, that theory didn’t make much sense, especially since a casting call went out for Sybil. The character description sounded similar to the creature inside the vault.

Now that it is known that Nina will only be showing up in the Season 8 finale, it is unlikely she is a villain at all. It seems that she will probably wake up from her 60-year sleep either when Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) dies or when decades have passed by. That would allow Bonnie to live a full life instead of killing her off before her time.

After Dobrev’s exit from TVD in Season 6, Julie Plec spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of Nina Dobrev’s return to The Vampire Diaries.

“Nina has always said that if there’s something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it. When she left, she said, ‘I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can’t wait to come back and put her to bed again.'”

The executive producer also discussed the possibility of there being a flash forward of 60 years. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Plec said that she and co-creator Kevin Williamson disagreed on flash forwards. However, they would come to an agreement and do what was best for the show. The executive producer also talked about how she would like to bring everyone back.

“I will say that at some point over the course of this season, I would like to see everyone’s face that I can possibly see again, whether it be in the finale or in flashbacks or the characters who are still alive finding their way through Mystic Falls one last time. This year is about delivering on eight seasons worth of passion and enthusiasm for these characters and I would be really disappointed not to be able to show off all their faces one last time.”

What do you think of Nina Dobrev returning to The Vampire Diaries in Season 8? Are you disappointed she will only be seen in the season finale? How do you think Elena Gilbert’s character will be revived when TVD returns to The CW network this fall?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres on October 21.
