Linda Thompson’s Memoir Describes Elvis Presley’s Drug Problems And Insecurities, And Being Married To Bruce Jenner Before He Transitioned To Caitlyn

Linda Thompson is publishing her memoir later this month and it will include plenty of juicy details, according to Page Six. In particular, the blonde bombshell reveals her ex Elvis Presley had drug problems and has a thing or two to say about her marriage to Bruce Jenner, aka Caitlyn Jenner.

In her upcoming memoir A Little Thing Called Life, which will be published later this month, Linda Thompson reveals details of her four-and-a-half-year romance with Elvis Presley, as well as talks about what it’s like being married to a man who changed his gender and became a woman.

People magazine got its hands on an excerpt of the upcoming memoir, in which Linda Thompson details how much passion and trouble she had when dating Presley. It was his drug addiction that didn’t allow them to take their relationship to the next level and eventually ended with a breakup.

In the excerpt, Linda Thompson recalls one incident from her life with Presley, when he asked her to go to the dentist’s office with him.

“Then the dentist left the room and Elvis opened the cabinet and took out gigantic jars of pills. He began taking handfuls of pills and stuffing them into random pockets.”

And while Linda Thompson was shocked to see Presley stuffing himself with drugs, she later looked at the drug’s label, which said it was Seconal, a sleeping drug. After that incident, the 66-year-old songwriter kept an eye on Presley’s behavior, his habits, sleep, and energy levels.

Linda Thompson also revealed that she once delivered a shot of Ritalin to save Presley’s life after he nearly overdosed on Placidyl, another sleeping medication. She also revealed that when Presley wanted to lose weight, he was placed in a medically induced coma for two weeks so that he wouldn’t consume food.

In 1976, Presley died at the age of 42 nearly eight months after his breakup with Linda Thompson. It was his 9-year-old daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who revealed the tragic news to Thompson.

Over the past 40 years since Presley’s death, Linda Thompson met, married, and divorced Caitlyn Jenner, became an award-winning songwriter and even started a TV career, according to People magazine.

Linda Thompson also reveals in her memoir that she met Presley for the first time when, having been just crowned Miss Tennessee Universe, she was invited to a Memphis movie screening hosted by the Rock and Roll legend. In fact, she also revealed that she had been a virgin at the time of their first encounter.

“From our first moments together, our relationship was all-encompassing. The first year of the four and a half we would share, we were together 24 hours a day.”

However, Linda Thompson complains that Presley was “needy,” adding that while he was the “greatest sex symbol in the world,” he was still so insecure to the point that he didn’t want to hear about her previous boyfriends.

Presley’s drug problems weren’t the only reason why his romance with Linda Thompson crumbled apart. It was also his multiple affairs that made the two go their separate ways.

In the relationship with Caitlyn Jenner, Linda Thompson reveals that the TV personality had hidden her identity as a transgender woman until 1985 when she told the truth to her then-wife Thompson.

In the memoir, Linda Thompson details her struggles to process Jenner’s desire to change his gender from male to female. Bruce (now Caitlyn) confessing to Thompson that he identified as a woman in 1985 means that it was after the birth of their two sons, Brody and Brandon.
