Amber Portwood Had To Be Pulled Out Of Bed: ‘Teen Mom’ Star Taking Prescription Drugs For Depression

Amber Portwood fought to get her life back after serving time behind bars and being away from her daughter, Leah. Instead of choosing a rehab facility to get sober, Portwood decided that prison would be the better option for her. She served quite some time behind bars and she fought to get sober.

However, the new Teen Mom season proves to be a rough one for Portwood, who is struggling with depression and anxiety. It’s no secret that last year was troublesome for Amber, as she learned that Matt Baier had more children that he had previously said and was being sued for child support.

According to a new Radar Online report, Amber Portwood has been working hard to stay sober, even though she’s been dealing with some bad news. The man she was planning on marrying had been lying to her about the number of children he has. And when her own daughter reveals that she prefers to live with her father, Portwood is hurt and disappointed. Apparently, it caused her to turn to prescription pills to deal with the depression and anxiety.

Last year, Gary Shirley wasn’t exactly too eager to work out a custody agreement between them, but it sounds like Amber has been able to get a 50/50 custody agreement in place for little Leah. And she explains that she decided to push for the agreement, as Leah was caught in the middle.

“I did this because [Leah] was getting affected by it,” Amber Portwood tells her friend and her future husband after her daughter said that her father’s house is more fun. “Me and Gary trying to play games and stuff… I didn’t want that to happen anymore because I didn’t want her to feel like she had to choose a side.”

Leah had told Amber Portwood that she enjoyed spending time at her father’s house more so than her house. While Amber is trying to make it a fun environment for her, it is clear that Leah has a great relationship with her father, as he took care of her when Portwood was in prison. And her daughter’s comments made Amber feel depressed and she turned to lexipron and buspirone to help deal with her anxiety and depression.

“It was bad, I was crying and I got really depressed,” Amber Portwood revealed with Matt, adding, “It went for a couple of weeks where I had to force her out of bed.”

Matt Baier had told Amber that he had two children, but court documents proved that he had closer to nine children. Two of the women dropped their child support cases against him as they didn’t think they would get the support they were asking for. To make matters worse, Amber Portwood learned that her own daughter would prefer to spend time with her father, Gary Shirley.

It’s clear that she has a lot going on in her life, which could be why she has postponed her October wedding to Matt.

“We don’t have a set date anymore,” she said, according to Radar Online, adding, “But we still want to get married. There’s so much going on that we postponed it.”

According to In Touch Weekly, the original story was that they had decided to cancel the wedding and many people speculated that Portwood didn’t want to marry Matt because of his lies over having nine children. She felt that he was a deadbeat dad, the kind of man she despised. And yet, she stayed with him.
