Justin Bieber’s Mom Writes About Painful Past In New Book

Justin Bieber’s mom, Pattie Mallette, gives an inside look at the famous singer’s family in her new book Nowhere But Up: The Story Of Justin Bieber’s Mom.

And it isn’t a pretty story.

The book, of course, has a happy ending, but Bieber’s mom talks about several unsettling incidents from her past. According to AOL, Mallette talks about abuse she suffered as a child, raising a child as a single mother, and how she was once tried to commit suicide.

Needless to say, the book was pretty difficult for Bieber to read.

Pattie said:

“I know reading the book was really hard for him … I know a few times he just had a really tough time getting through some of the chapters, and I can’t blame him.”

One emotional chapter talks about how Pattie almost decided to have an abortion when she found out that she was pregnant at 18.

Pattie said:

“I was terrified. I was 18. I was pregnant. I didn’t know what to do or where to go. But I just knew that terminating the pregnancy wasn’t an option for me.”

Mallette also talks about the abuse she experienced as a child and the emotional scars she had to deal with.

Mallette writes:

“I had a really tough childhood, but I just know that I really wanted to help other people with this book. For years I was in denial, thinking that sexual abuse didn’t affect me. That denial kept me in pain. I’ve spent most of my adult life sifting through the tangled web of emotional wounds and the debris left by the darkness.”

Bieber said that he was proud of his mom for writing the book, saying that she’s he “strongest woman I’ve ever met.”

Bieber said:

“I’ve always known it, but this book helped to remind me just how strong she is,”
