Bethenny Frankel Has No Regrets About Confrontation: ‘I Didn’t Expect To Be So Upset’

Bethenny Frankel wanted to celebrate Luann de Lesseps’ engagement to Thomas D’Agostino, so she traveled to Miami to spend some time with her and their mutual Real Housewives of New York co-stars. While Luann was thrilled that she was getting married, some of her co-stars were hurt that she didn’t take their feelings into consideration, as Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer had previously dated him. But during the trip to Florida, Bethenny learned that Thomas hadn’t been honest with her about his dating life.

According to a new People report, Bethenny Frankel really struggled with the news that was dumped into her lap. Bethenny told her co-stars that someone she knew had spotted Thomas in New York at his go-to place, the New York Regency Hotel, with another woman. Bethenny’s friend had taken pictures of him there making out with another woman just 48 hours before their engagement party. Frankel had the pictures to prove it, but her Real Housewives of New York co-star didn’t want to see it.

“I’m coming from a place of girl-to-girl,” Frankel revealed about confronting her Real Housewives of New York co-star, according to People. “I’m coming from a place of girl code – that you tell another girl.”

Of course, Bethenny and her Real Housewives of New York co-star are not exactly the best of friends. Over the past several years, they have experienced their ups and downs. They have fought and been rude to one another, but Frankel wanted her co-star to know what was going on with her future husband. As she kept saying to her other co-stars, she would want to know what was going on.

“I do not pretend to be good friends with LuAnn, I don’t pretend to be anything to anybody,” Bethenny revealed to People magazine. “I [was] a woman on an engagement weekend – I chose to go on that weekend, and I would do everything exactly the same way again.”

Frankel struggled with telling her Real Housewives of New York co-star about the cheating picture, because she knew that her marriage had been plagued by cheating before. And as de Lesseps has said herself, she had an open marriage.

“LuAnn is an interesting character: LuAnn has said that she had an open marriage – I know that she and her ex-husband were not faithful to one another – so I didn’t know if that was some kind of rule about relationships. I know she spent time modeling in Europe, I don’t know if she’s having a stereotypical European relationship [with D’Agostino, Jr.] – I did not know what to do,” Bethenny Frankel explained to People, sharing that she didn’t want to step on any toes since they could have an open-relationship agreement where they could see other people.

While fans didn’t see the picture that she had from her friend, it was obvious that people who did see the picture could spot Thomas. According to another People report, Frankel did try to call Thomas so he could explain himself, but he never picked up. The ladies decided it was best to talk to Luann about the picture, but she rushed out of the room before she could see the picture for herself.

“I had a picture dated and timestamped, and I thought, ‘How could I not tell her? How am I going to sit around here and not tell her?'” Bethenny Frankel explained in her People interview. “I chose to let the weekend play out and not just dump this on everybody at the beginning so we’d all be sobbing the whole weekend. But I was very upset… I didn’t expect to be so upset.”

Bethenny was clearly heartbroken about the news she had to share, but she felt Luann absolutely had to know what was going on behind her back. Sadly, she refused to see the picture, and the wedding is still on for New Year’s Eve.
