The Sims 4 Expansion Pack Leak: Theme And Title Of EP3 Revealed

There’s good news for fans of The Sims 4 who have been eager for news on the next expansion pack. The wait is over, mostly.

According to fansite Sims Community, the theme and a potential name for the next The Sims 4 era game leaked on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. It seems the information came from the official website of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice. Apparently, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice is the agency that rates video games in that country. Reportedly, the new expansion, which seems to be named The Sims 4: Vida na Cidade, will be rated not recommended for children under 12-years-old. The Sims 4: Vida na Cidade translates to The Sims 4: Life in the City. The page on the Brazilian Ministry of Justice website has since been either locked or deleted.

Longtime fans of The Sims 4 may recall that in August 2015, a survey circulated among a select group. The survey asked participants to vote on potential ideas for future The Sims 4 era expansion packs. Among the more intriguing options in the survey was The Sims 4: On the Road, The Sims 4: Get Real, and The Sims 4: Rebuild. The Sims 4: Metropolis was also an option, and the description from one year ago sounds a lot like what The Sims 4: Life in the City could become.

“Move into a bustling, modern city! Live in new apartments and penthouses eat food at carts and shop at street markets and immerse your sims in the different cultures of the city by exploring the many diverse neighbourhoods.”

Given the naming scheme of The Sims 4 era expansion packs, the English title of the rumored next expansion would most likely be The Sims 4: City Life.

The developers at Maxis have been notoriously tight-lipped about upcoming content for The Sims 4, and with good reason. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a series of leaks in April 2016 forced the development team to reveal The Sims 4: Dine Out among clamoring from fans. There are clues that some think points to the big city as the next destination for your sims. For example, CAS assets in The Sims 4: Backyard Stuff include tank tops for adults and children that feature cityscapes. During The Sims 3 era, it was common for developers at Maxis to hint at future content through game items.

Despite the developers’ silence, there are some clues as to what might be in store for The Sims 4: City Life. In May 2015, a user of the official The Sims forum made a post in the ideas corner advocating for an expansion called The Sims 4: City Life. The user imagined the potential City Life expansion to be a hybrid of The Sims 3: Late Night and The Sims 3: Town Life Stuff. Malls, vehicles, driving skills, new instruments, and improvements to the dating mechanic were among the content the user suggested. While it is tempting to dismiss the original post as coincidence, many of the features mentioned in the idea post for The Sims 4: City Life went on to become content The Sims 4. DJs, a DJ skill, restaurant venues, hot tubs, and dance floors are all features which were mentioned in the post and had been added to The Sims 4 as of August 2016.

Unfortunately for fans, the developers behind The Sims 4 aren’t likely to confirm or deny the existence of The Sims 4: City Life anytime soon. It also worth noting that Maxis has not released two expansion packs back-to-back. It is far more likely that Maxis will release at least one Stuff Pack and at least one Game pack before the next fully-fledged expansion pack. That suggests that The Sims 4: City Life won’t be available for purchase until sometime in the holiday 2016 season.
