Toys ‘R’ Us Sued Over Tabeo Tablet

Toys “R” Us is being sued by Fuhu Inc., the creator of the Nabi Tablet, over the retail giant’s recently unveiled Tabeo Tablet.

Fuhu accuses Toys “R” Us of stealing trade secrets to make the Tabeo Tablet and is asking the toy store to pull the device before the holiday season.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the lawsuit says that Toys “R” Us agreed to become the exclusive seller of the Nabi tablet but did “virtually no promotion” to sell the product. The lawsuit also states that Toys “R” Us only ordered a small amount of Nabi Tablets for the holiday season.

Fuhu believes that the world’s largest toy store never intended to try to sell the Nabi. Instead, Fuhu is accusing the toy store of using the Nabi Tablet to design its own Tabeo Tablet.

The lawsuit reads:

“Toys R Us used Fuhu’s trade secrets and confidential information to start selling Tabeo, which systematically attempts to replicate the Nabi experience, far earlier than Toys R Us could have done otherwise, if at all.”

Fuhu is asking the toy store to stop selling the Tabeo. The company is also asking for unspecified monetary damages.

Toys “R” Us has not commented on the lawsuit yet.

The toy store unveiled the Tabeo Tablet earlier this month and planned to use the device to draw in holiday shoppers. The Tabeo Tablet will be sold exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores, that is, if the lawsuit doesn’t require the toy store to pull the product from its shelves.
