Katy Perry Keeps Mum On New Album As Her Team Leaks Details

Katy Perry’s fans have been waiting for the follow-up to her 2013 release, Prism. So far, they have been left with very little details, not even an album title, track list, and release date.

In a new interview with Mashable, Katy Perry, 31, was more willing to talk about her Twitter following and new song “Rise,” rather than her new music. Perry said that now was a good time to release the song because she’s had it brewing inside her for a while now and she wanted to release it on its own instead of with her fourth studio album. Plus, it was the perfect song for the Rio Olympics.

“‘Rise’ is a song that I have had swirling around in me. It’s a little bit like the story of the phoenix, about overcoming…. Rising up again or finding that inner strength again and again, that’s a lifelong theme for me. Years ago I had tried to write it but it didn’t work, it didn’t come out right. And when the Olympics approached us it was already half written, and it was one of the first songs that I have written in the next batch, so I pulled it out.”

She also mentioned that “Rise” is the bridge between her last album and her new album.

“I’ve been taking my time making this record and I just wanted to have a bridge of something whether I was thinking about doing something for a film or something like this and this seemed so obvious and such a perfect fit.”

But, when she was asked how she would describe her next album, Perry had very little to say. It sounded like she was still working on the album and wasn’t sure what to say about it. Instead, Perry said that she will let her music speak for itself when she releases it.

“It’s too soon to define it. I want to let the music define itself when it comes out,” she simply added.

As she remains mum on her new album, reports suggest that the new album could come this winter, according to the Times of India. Perry’s new album could be slated for either October or November, and industry insiders are already excited about the release, according to an inside source.

“Katy’s on a major high. For the first time in a long time, she’s really happy in a relationship and it’s helping her see everything clearer,” the insider revealed to Ace Showbiz.

Perry’s album is said to be inspired by her relationship with Orlando Bloom. She will also have a collaboration with Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. It’s also been rumored that Perry’s new album will address her ongoing feud with her pop arch nemesis, Taylor Swift.

And, according to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Perry’s new single could be dropping in the next few weeks. It looks like fans won’t have to wait any longer for new music. According to David Asante, coeditor of That Grape Juice, the “Dark Horse” singer will be dropping some new music in “a few weeks,” according to his now-deleted tweet posted on Wednesday, August 17.

So, how does he know? Over a week ago, he predicted that Lady Gaga fans will receive an exciting announcement soon.

Then, on Wednesday, Gaga announced her new “Perfect Illusion” will drop next month. It looks like Gaga and Perry are returning to the pop music game and are competing against each other again. Gaga’s last album, ArtPop, also released in 2013.
