Kristen Stewart’s Relationship With Robert Pattinson Fake? Actress Calls Relationship A ‘Product’
Did Kristen Stewart reveal her relationship to Robert Pattison was fake? For years, there were theories that the relationship has been just a ploy to promote the Twilight franchise and the onscreen love between Bella and Edward. Now that the couple has parted ways, is Stewart coming out with the truth?
According to Stewart, who has been in a relationship with girlfriend Alicia Cargile, there was an aspect to her relationship with Pattison that was fabricated and because of that, it turned into a product.
In an interview with T magazine, Stewart, who’s usually shy about her relationships past and present, went on to explain just how contrived her relationship was with Robert Pattinson.
“People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product. It wasn’t real life anymore. And that was gross to me. It’s not that I want to hide who I am or hide anything I’m doing in my life. It’s that I don’t want to become a part of a story for entertainment value.”
In 2012, at the height of their relationship, the two became part of a media blitz when Stewart was photographed cheating with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Fans were heartbroken about the news. In the midst of the allegations, Stewart publicly released a statement to apologize to her then boyfriend.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
The two didn’t last too long after that, and both moved on from the Twilight franchise and each other.
As for her relationship with girlfriend Alicia Cargile, who she’s been on and off with for a few years now, it seems like this one isn’t for a movie studio. “I would never talk about any of my relationships before, but once I started dating girls it seemed like there was an opportunity to represent something really positive. I still want to protect my personal life, but I don’t want to seem like I’m protecting the idea, so that does sort of feel like I owe something to people.”
After years of speculation about her sexuality, Kristen finally explained that she had a girlfriend and wasn’t hiding it. Before Stewart opened up about her on-and-off relationship, Kristen’s mom told The Mirror that she was happy with the relationship and that she met Alicia and liked her, calling her a “lovely girl.”
This isn’t the first time Stewart spoke out about her relationship with Robert Pattinson. During an interview with Elle UK, she said of the relationship by making comparisons to her relationship with Alicia.
“When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn’t like it. We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.”
In the same interview, Stewart said she was in love with her girlfriend. “We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again.'”
As for Robert Pattinson, he’s been engaged to singer FKA Twigs for over a year. The two were rumored to have called their engagement off, but they have made plenty of appearances together since then.
