5 Green Bay Packers To Watch In Second NFL Preseason Game

The Green Bay Packers are without question one of the most intriguing teams to keep an eye on heading into the second week of NFL preseason action. Mike McCarthy gave some of his key starters a rest in the first preseason game, but it seems likely that more players will suit up for the second preseason game.

According to a report from Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Aaron Rodgers may not play against the Raiders. Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that Brett Hundley is getting the reps with the first team this week.

McCarthy and the Packers were able to defeat the Cleveland Browns last week by a final score of 17-11. It was a good start to the preseason, but there are still a lot of things that they need to work on.

Looking ahead to Thursday night, the Packers will host the Oakland Raiders to Lambeau Field. They will be looking for quite a few different things while looking for specific things from certain players.

Green Bay is one of the favorites to win the NFC this season alongside the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals. They are also looking to re-take the NFC North division title.

All of that being said, which five players should fans be on the lookout for during the second preseason game on Thursday evening?

Perhaps the most intriguing players to keep an eye on is Eddie Lacy. He looked much more explosive with his leaner body build against the Browns and will be under scrutiny once again this week. Lacy needs to come out and prove once again that he is more explosive and can be a long-term running back in Green Bay.

Brett Hundley, Quarterback

It looks like Brett Hundley will finally get his first playing time of the preseason. There is a lot of intrigue surrounding Hundley this offseason, and the Packers are very confident that he will impress. Hundley is without question one of the main players to watch, and he will likely put on a show.

Jared Cook, Tight End

Jared Cook may not get a ton of playing time this week, but he is a player that fans must watch. Simply seeing how he looks in the offense will be an important sign for the Packers. Cook is a key piece of what the Green Bay offense hopes to accomplish, and it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he makes this week.

At 24-years-old, Jayrone Elliott is trying to prove that he should get playing time for the Packers this season. He has shown off a skill-set that includes the ability to rush the passer and drop into coverage from time to time. Elliott will need to put up a big game on Thursday to improve his positioning for playing time.

Quentin Rollins/Damarious Randall, Cornerback

Green Bay is going to need their two second-year cornerbacks, Quentin Rollins and Damarious Randall, to come through with a huge season this year. Both players are capable of making major plays, and they will be entertaining to watch. They may not get much playing time Thursday night, but they will certainly be players to watch while they’re in the game.

Expect to see Green Bay look much better than they did last week against the Browns. They have a great coaching staff that has worked all week to improve the issues that they showed last week.
